Summary
Fortniteis overhauling its battle passes in the next season.Throughout Chapter 6, various changes will be made to how battle pass rewards are unlocked, simplifying the process and phasing out Battle Stars and Festival Points.
Instead of using these currencies, the battle passes will work as they do in other games, and will simply be progressed with XP. Better yet, all three battle passes - the main Battle Pass, as well as Music Pass, and Lego Pass - will progress at once.
Fortnite Battle Passes Are Receiving Huge Changes, Letting You Progress Them All At Once And Directly Purchase Rewards
Fortnite revealed this in a newblog post, detailing what we can expect from Chapter 6.
“Soon, Fortnite’s pass progression systems will change to reward players regardless of what they like to play,” the post reads. “By December 1, all passes in Fortnite will progress simultaneously by earning XP from playing any experience.”
On top of that, it seems that we won’t have to unlock specific tiers just to earn rewards, as Fortnite is making changes to how this works too.
“As you progress through pass tiers with XP, you’ll be able to claim rewards on the unlocked pages of each active pass you have,” it reads. “Rewards may be claimed in non-sequential order on all passes, in the same way that you can with the Battle Pass now. You’ll also be able to set each pass to auto-claim the next reward when it becomes available to you.
“To simplify things once all passes progress using XP, we’ll be retiring Festival Points on November 2, followed by Battle Stars and Studs on December 1. Once these earned currencies are retired, the Battle Pass, Music Pass, and LEGO Pass will simply unlock rewards for you to claim as you earn XP.”
This is largely being received well by the fanbase, who appreciate that the way rewards are unlocked is being simplified and, seemingly, made more convenient for those who play multiple modes. Of course, this isn’t kicking in right away, so it won’t help with any loot you want to unlock now, but at least the next wave of battle passes will launch with these features.
