Summary
The first gameplay trailer forFortnite’s yearly Halloween event, Fortnitemares, has been revealed and finally gives us our first in-game look at the recently revealedDisneyvillains skins.
It’s been clear for a couple of years now thatEpic Gameslikes working with Disney more than any other company when it comes to Fortnite content. The seemingly endless deluge of Marvel skins and even entire seasonswas the biggest sign of that, but things got even clearer earlier this yearwhen it was confirmed that the two were teaming up for a new project.
After months of speculation, we finally got to learn a little more about that collab during D23,which confirmed that multiple sets of Disney and Pixar skins are coming to Fortnite. One of those packs, based on The Incredibles, has already released, and it looks like the second, which adds unique Fortnite versions of Disney villains, is just around the corner.
Fortnitemares 2024 First Gameplay Trailer Has Leaked
As highlighted by reliable Fortnite insider HYPEX, Twitter user itsmeleaky somehow managed to get their hands on the first gameplay trailer for Fortnitemares 2024 before Epic officially shared it. The trailer shows a lot of the content that’s coming in the surprisingly substantial Halloween update, but the most exciting reveal is our first in-game look at the Disney villains.
Early on in the trailer, a Fortnite character runs past Cruella de Vil, Maleficent, and Captain Hook, which lets us see their Fortnite designs in-game for the first time. While they’re still clearly based on the Disney characters, they’ve been given a bit of a modern vibe, including Maleficent wearing jeans and Captain Hook looking surprisingly realistic.
We only see the skins very briefly, but it does suggest that the three will be coming to Fortnite in the very near future, likely as part of Fortnitemares. Beyond that, we also get to see a bunch of other collabs coming as part of the event, including Bubba from The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Edward Scissorhands, and new skins for Jack and Sally from A Nightmare Before Christmas.
Epic and Disney also recently confirmed that not every character added to the game will be able to wield a gun. Don’t expect Mickey Mouse to run around with an AK47.
The gameplay trailer also shows off a new chainsaw weapon which can be used by players to speed around the map, as well as a rocket launcher that seems to shoot pumpkin heads as projectiles. All-in-all, it’s a fairly big update for Fortnite that seems to have had a lot more time and effort put into it than usual.
