Summary
Grand Theft Auto Onlineis doing what every good live service game should be doing right now, and isprepping itself for the spooky season. According to the game’s weekly patch notes, a variety of different cosmetics and bonuses are coming to GTA Online over the next couple of weeks, though the more interesting addition is a zombie-themed Community Challenge.
In the patch notes(thanks GamesRadar), it’s revealed that a limited-time zombies mode is coming to GTA Online, one which will have players “dispatch marching tides of undead”. However, what makes this neat little addition for the holiday season even more interesting, is that it will be the first time that GTA Online will allow players to travel to North Yankton.
GTA Online Is Letting Players Visit North Yankton For The First Time
If that name sounds familiar, it’s because pretty much every GTA 5 player has been there at some point. North Yankton is the location in which younger versions of protagonists Trevor and Michael rob a bank in the game’s intro, and is a very underutilized area in both the main campaign and GTA Online. Various mods have allowed players to reach the area in the past, though it’s always been pretty glitchy as a result.
With this new Community Challenge, it now looks like players will get to visit for the first time, and they’ll be slaying hordes of the undead while doing so. It’s a pretty fitting location for a zombie-themed mode of this nature, given it’s a bit of a ghost town anyway, and the town’s very spooky graveyard will probably help ratchet up the atmosphere too.
Not a lot of information about the mode was given in this week’s patch notes, so we don’t know right now as to exactly how the mode will work or how long it will last for, but we’ll know more pretty soon since it’s coming next week. That means GTA Online will be a perfect game if you’re looking for a bit of horror this Halloween, and will probably have people wondering whywe haven’t had an Undead Nightmare-esque expansionfor the title yet.
