Traits are invaluable inThrone And Liberty. They improve your gear significantly in an area of your choosing, from increasedHit Chancefor weaponry to increasedMana Regen, Sleep Resistance,and more for armor and accessories. Traits areso importantthat a player in fully-traitedRaregear is more powerful inPvPthan a player with un-traitedPurplegear.
This guide covers how to unlock traits, how to get the traits you need for your gear, as well as some of the overall best traits depending on your build.
How To Unlock Traits
There are two ways to unlock new traits on a piece of gear, whether that’s a weapon, an armor piece, or an accessory.
Extracts
First, you canpurchase an Extract from the Auction Houseof thesame itemwith a different trait.
Then head into theUpgradescreen for the piece you want to trait, click onTrait, and you can now transfer the trait from theExtractonto your chosen piece.
TheExtractmust beon the exact same type of gear.For example, to addHeavy Attackto aKarnix' Netherbowyou will need a trait Extract of Heavy Attack on a Netherbow.
You can createExtractsof your own gear usingTrait Extraction Stones.This means you can turn an untradable item into a tradable Extract. If you find a valuable trait on gear that you aren’t using - let’s say you don’t need any more Heavy Attack - you can sell these on the Auction House to start making some Lucent.
Unlockstones
Secondly, you can useTrait Unlockstonesto selectively choose which trait you want to add. Often, this might be acheaperalternative to purchasing a matching Extract from the auction house. However,Trait Unlockstonesare not common, and you should choose wisely when it comes to using them.
One of the best ways to get Trait Unlockstones is to hunt forMystic PortalsandMystic Globesas they have a chance to offer them. you’re able to also getUnlockstonesas an alternative reward from the Weekly Mission tab if you don’t want to select a gear reward.
Trait Conversion
Trait Conversion is where you gamble on a trait roll on a piece of gear. Take these boots, which we are trying to change from Ranged Evasion to another trait.
We can spend20 Trait Conversion Stoneswith a chance to roll a new trait. You can view the percentage chance of these rolls on the right side of the screen.
Gear Progression
Gear progression works slightly differently in Throne And Liberty compared to other MMOs. Rather than wearing un-traited Purple gear when you first get a good drop for your build,it’s a better option to fully trait a piece of Blue gear firstand then transfer the Blue item into the Purple item.
Not only is it much cheaper to trait a Blue item than a Purple one, you will also receive aBlessingchance on the Purple item based on the traits that you’ve transferred. This means you might be able to trait a Purple item with Blue traits.
Blessing Chance
When you transfer a Blue trait into a Purple trait, you get a 10% Blessing chance. When this reaches 100%, you receive a 100% chance of a Blue trait fully upgrading a Purple trait. In some cases, this actually works out cheaper thanpurchasing a Purple Extract.
This is particularly useful if you getBlue dropsfrom farming that match the traits on the gear you want to upgrade.
