InHelldivers 2, you can unlocka Stratagem called the Jump Pack. It’s a backpack attachment that allows you to briefly fly in the air so that you can climb terrain faster and even escape Chargers if you time it right. Imagine Boba Fett if he werein Starship Troopers.
But fans aren’t too happy with how it performs. As the name suggests, it doesn’t pack quite the same punch as a proper jetpack, only giving you bursts of airtime. Withthe flamethrower controversyand other drama surrounding more prominent Stratagems, it hasn’t been discussed too much among the community, so one Reddit user decided to finally shine the spotlight on this slightly underwhelming attachment.
“I know it isn’t something a lot of people are talking about, but it could use some love"OtherSpoons posted, garnering nearly 5,000 upvotes at the time of writing. “It takes up a backpack slot, so could go higher or could the cooldown be shortened?”
What The Community Wants To See Happen With The Jump Pack
Back in June, developer Arrowhead temporarily added a Dark Fluid Jump Pack as part of its ongoing storyline, which was a juiced-up version of the normal Jump Pack. Because of the rare material powering it, this variation took you higher into the air and recharged faster, and fans have been calling for it to be added permanently ever since.
It doesn’t look like that’s going to happen, so there are some aspects that fans would like to see added to the standard Jump Pack instead. “If Arrowhead ONLY copies the recharge rate, I’d take it 100 percent of the time,” one fan commented. “Mobility is life in this game and being able to flank and surprise bots is such a game changer.”
Others simply want multiple to drop from one pod, making the Stratagem more worthwhile as you’d be able to share the Jump Pack with your teammates.
Another popular suggestion is to look at another game entirely,Star Wars: Battlefront 2 (2017). “They just need to scrap its connection to stamina and run speed,” another fan wrote. “Make it function like the Jet Troopers”.
If you haven’t played DICE’s underrated modernStar Warsclassic, Jump Troopers had far more versatitlity in the air, able to fly longer and cross larger distances. They felt a lot more natural to play with than Helldiver 2’s Jump Packs, and frankly a lot more useful.
Granted, it is aJump Pack,not a jetpack — even if that’s what fans often call it. So, maybe the solution is just add a beefed up version of it called the jetpack. Whatever the case, fans love the idea of this Stratagem, they just want to see it taken further. Literally.
