Helldivers 2was staring down at an oncoming Charger only a few weeks ago. A sudden drought of new content, along with frustrating nerfs to fan-favourite weapons saw the overall player count drop faster than a Hell Pod.
However, after a 60-day patch program, where Arrowhead reworkedover 40 items including primary and support weapons, sidearms, grenades and Stratagems, the game has seen theplayer count bounce back significantly. One of the standout buffs in the latest update was that for the P-4 Senator revolver, which makes taking down heavy enemies like Chargers, Hulks and Bile Titans much easier.
Hand Cannon Indeed
Helldivers 2 players have been celebrating the update, as it has made the fight against the Automatons much more fun. However, the P-4 Senator has been particularly highlighted in the Helldivers 2 Subreddit as it has become the best way to deal with heavy enemies like Chargers, Hulks, and even Bile Titans.
- Armor penetration increased from 3 to 4
Projectile damage increased from 175 to 200
Projectile durable damage increased from 35 to 70
What’s particularly great about this patch is that it allows your inventory to be quite versatile. Your primary can be for crowd control, you’re able to carry an explosive for your support, and you can whip out the P-4 Senator whenever a big Terminid or Automaton shows up. Also, it’s just cool to take down a heavy with a hand cannon, isn’t it?
This 60-day patch plan was just the thing the game needed, as unnecessary nerfs to fan-favourite weapons was makinghigher difficulty levels seem like a chore, especially on the Automaton front.
Fans are grateful for this update, as Helldivers 2 was going from one of the best releases of the year to a bullet-spongy chore, resulting in players falling off. “We are finally on the right track. Remember when we had all those dudes saying how nerfs were good and how the state back then was good lol,” said one player. “Now in my difficulty 10 lobbies I see almost every type of support weapon.”
However, the Arrowhead team had said that there are still more updates and balancing requirements for Helldivers 2. “As we keep building this game, we are committed to keeping the lines of communication open through regular player surveys, improved patch notes, and more frequent updates via blog posts and streams. We will also continue to expand our closed betas, to make sure we catch valuable feedback early,” game director Mikael Eriksson stated in a blog post.
