Helldivers 2 Xbox Port Hopes Dashed
In October, Helldivers 2 community manager Thomas “Twinbeard” Petersson said of a potential Xbox port, “It’s not up to us but to Sony and Phil [Spencer] to duke out, but hypothetically speaking, if both partners think it would benefit them from a financial/brand standpoint, it could. If Sony believes it won’t, though, it won’t,” sparking some expectation that things could be progressing in the right direction.
Speaking recently onThe XboxEra Podcast, industry insiderShpeshal Nick said, “Remember I said in March or April, how I said there were discussions about Helldivers 2 coming to Xbox? The last I heard, it ain’t happening now; the last I heard, it’s not happening.”

This, unfortunately for Xbox players, flies in the face of what Nick previously heard. As he alluded to, in April, Nick said that “very early, preliminary discussions” had been taking place for an Xbox version of Helldivers 2.
As is always the case with rumors like this, though, take it with a pinch of salt. It is the closest we’ve got to confirmation one way or another, but plans change, and rumors are rumors.
An Xbox release for Helldivers 2 would be a great prospect for players but would open Arrowhead Studios up to a whole new avenue of hurt.
