Summary

A lot of big anniversaries this year asBatmanturns 85 andDungeons & Dragonsturns 50. The iconic RPG that has had people adventuring round tabletops for the past half a century isn’t the only world-famous IP celebrating its 50th birthday in 2024.Hello Kittyhas been around since 1974 and has been popping up all over the place to celebrate turning 50. On October 1, the mascot will collaborate with Adidas as a new pair of Hello Kitty-themed Gazelles has been revealed.

Reported by Sole Retriever, the Gazelles are the perfect balance of style and subtlety when it comes to flaunting your love for Hello Kitty. The sneakers are white with Adidas’s iconic stripes down the side of each shoe in red, the standard color combo when it comes to Hello Kitty. The sneakers are Hello Kitty-themed in more than just color scheme though, but without going over the top.

Hello Kitty’s face is featured twice - on the tongue and the back of the shoe. I guess that’s technically four times as the same design is repeated on each shoe. As synonymous with Hello Kitty as Hello Kitty herself is the bow she wears in her hair. Wait, do cats have hair? Should that be fur? Sorry, I’m getting off topic. Hello Kitty’s bow is embossed all over the sneakers, and there’s a red bow embroidered into the black heel tab on the back of each sneaker.

Hello Kitty And Adidas Team Up For The Mascot Cat’s 50th Anniversary

Needs More Bows

Before you go rushing off to buy Hello Kitty’s new Gazelles, they’re not available quite yet. The sneakers will be available to buy through Adidas and Hello Kitty’s official stores, as well as other select retailers, starting on May 21, 2025. The sneakers will only be available in adult women’s sizes and will cost $125 per pair. It might have been 50 years since her introduction, but despite costing $125, I’m guessing these Gazelles will sell out fast and there’s no guarantee they will be restocked once they’re gone.
