Summary

The rumors were true -Horizon Zero Dawn is getting a PS5 remaster. Well, they were a little more than rumors since the remaster had received an ESRB rating. TheZero Dawnremaster was shown off during Tuesday’s State Of Play and will be released on July 08, 2025. The good news for those of you who own aPS4copy of the game is yourPS5remaster upgrade will cost just $9.99. The even better news is that upgrade path may well be open to you even if you didn’t pay for your copy of Zero Dawn.

During the COVID-19 pandemic,PlayStationlaunched its Play At Home initiative. Starting in April 2020 and coming to an end a little more than a year later, the program was created to give people something to do while we were all cooped up at home unable to leave the house. One of the last games PlayStation gave away was the complete edition of Horizon Zero Dawn. Even though you didn’t pay anything for it, the upgrade path for the Horizon games remaster will still be just $9.99 if you now own it because of the Play At Home initiative.

If you don’t already own a copy of Horizon Zero Dawn but you’re interested in the remaster, it’s going to cost you $49.99 on PS5 andPC. We’ll be keeping an eye on whether the original version of the game goes on sale as if it does, there’s a chance you’ll be able to get the remaster for less. If Zero Dawn were to go on sale for $29.99, for example, you could then use that copy to get the remaster upgrade path for $9.99 and save yourself $10.

Play At Home Copies Of Zero Dawn Can Be Upgraded For $9.99

A Brand New Copy Of The Remaster Will Be $49.99

While PlayStation will be savvy of that,it did cut the price of The Last Of Us Part 2after it opened pre-orders for the sequel’s PS5 remaster. The price of the base game was reduced by $20 which meant you could buy it and the $10 upgrade for $10 less than it would cost you to buy the remastered PS5 version outright. It all depends on whether you want your copy of Zero Dawn to be in a shiny new PS5 box, although if you’re buying a digital version, that doesn’t really matter.

PlayStation hasn’t confirmed whether copies of Zero Dawn claimed through PS Plus can be upgraded for $9.99, but it seems unlikely.
