One of the main things that makesDead Rising Deluxe Remasterso unique is how it uses time as an in-game mechanic. In the main game mode, you have 72 in-game hours to beat every main Case, save as many survivors, and make it to the helipad on time.
All of that hasn’t been changed from the original game, but if you’re new to Dead Rising or just need a refresher, you’re probably wondering how long it’s going to take you to beat. We’ve got the answers for you right down below.
How Long Does It Take To Beat?
Dead Rising’s main game mode, 72 Hour Mode, takes place over three days, which means you’ve got a limited amount of time to complete every objective thrown your way in that time. That’ll change depending on how much youwantto complete, but getting through the mode will still take a set amount of time.
Every in-game hour in Dead Rising is equal to five minutes in the real world. That means every in-game day is around two hours, and that thewhole mode should take you six hours to complete. There are a few caveats to that, though, as cutscenes and looking at the map and menu don’t eat into that time. All in all, aregular playthrough of Dead Rising should take around seven to eight hours.
One thing worth noting is that Deluxe Remaster adds the ability to speed up time from save points, which can cut playthroughs down quite a bit. If you’re aiming for Ending A and Overtime Mode, though, you’re not likely to use it much.
How Long Do Overtime Mode And Infinite Mode Take?
You’re not done when you beat 72 Hour Mode, though. If you follow the right steps, you’ll be able to unlock two extra modes that add a lot more content to the game. The first is Overtime Mode, which adds another 24 hours to the timer and will take you around three hoursto complete including cutscenes.
Then there’s the infamous Infinity Mode, which you’ll unlock after beating Overtime Mode. While it’s completely up to you how long you play for, most players are going to want to stick around for seven daysto unlock the respective achievement and powerful Laser Sword. If you’ve not followed the math up until now, that’s going to be another 14 hours onto your overall playthrough.
At least, that was the case in the original game. With Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, you can actually speed up time from save points in Infinity Mode, which cuts down on the massive wait. For me,it took around four to five hoursto beat with consistent time speeding, so that should be around what to expect.
Unlike the original game, Infinite Mode allows you to save a run, which means it won’t be 14 consecutive hours this time. Thank god.
How Long To 100 Percent?
Infinity Mode might sound like the final hurdle in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, but there are also a lot of challenges for you to complete. While most can be achieved in your first 72 Hour Mode playthrough (or cleaned up in another run), there are a few that will definitely add some more time overall.
The first is the Zombie Annihilator challenge, which requires you to kill 53,594 zombies in one run. You’ll need to dedicate a whole playthrough for that,as it takes around three to four hours of non-stop killing to hit that number. If you want to know the best way to get that done, check out our guide here (add when done).
The second challenge that’ll likely take some time is Saint, which you’ll unlock after saving 50 survivors. Thisispossible in an Ending A run if you know what you’re doing, but for most players, you’ll need todedicate another six hours in a separate playthrough(preferably at Level 50) to get it done.
If you’re going for absolutely everything in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster, it’s going to take youaround 25 to 35 hours depending on how many playthroughs you doto complete challenges and how much you skip time once you’ve seen the main story through. The main game mode might seem short at first, but there’s plenty to do in Willamette for completionists.
