Dragon Ageis one of the biggest and most popular RPG series in the world. It began in 2009 with the release of the original game, and the series has continued to grow in popularity since then. There are even books and merchandise related to the series these days.
However, DA is still mainly known for its games, and there have been quite a few of them. Not all of the instalments have been main ones, as there have been spin-offs and mobile games, too. Here are all of the titles that are set within the Dragon Age universe.
Dragon Age: Origins
Most games that have the word ‘Origins’ in the title tend to be prequels of some kind, like Assassin’s Creed Origins or Batman: Arkham Origins. This is not the case with Dragon Age: Origins, as it was actually the first game in the series to be released.
In this game, you create a character that ends up joining the ancient order known as The Grey Wardens. They’re the group responsible for stopping the violent creatures known as the Darkspawn. This means taking down their leader, the Archdemon.
Dragon Age Journeys
Dragon Age Journeys is certainly not one of the most well-known Dragon Age games. It’s a 2D flash game set in the DA universe. The gameplay is in the style of a tactical RPG.
You play as a group of heroes who spend time in both the Deep Roads and the dwarven city of Orzammar. Their goal is to save the city from the Darkspawn threat, but that is easier said than done.
Dragon Age 2
In Dragon Age 2, you play as a created protagonist called Hawke. They arrive at the city of Kirkwall at the start of the game after escaping their home village with their family. You follow Hawke over the next several years, as they go from a refugee to an important resident of the city.
Unlike the first game, DA2 doesn’t take place in diverse, wide-open spaces. In fact, most of the game is set within Kirkwall, which was a heavily criticized aspect of the game.
Dragon Age Legends
Dragon Age Legends is a flash game set in the Dragon Age universe and served as a tie-in to Dragon Age 2.
The story of the game revolves around your protagonist helping out the Viscount of Kaiten, whose name is Ravi. He wants help with his son. The game is a tactical RPG and was originally released on Facebook and Google+. So, it wasn’t a major release.
Heroes Of Dragon Age
Heroes of Dragon Age is a freemium mobile game about collecting virtual 3D figures of Dragon Age characters. This is a freemium game, so you can either grind to unlock them or simply buy the figures.
Once you have them, you can put them in squads and fight other people or AI opponents. Picking the right characters and creating a balanced crew is crucial to victory. There isn’t a deep story in this game, but it uses lore from the series.
Dragon Age: The Last Court
Not only is Dragon Age: The Last Court different from the main games, but it’s also very different from the other spin-offs in the series. This is because it’s a text-based, free-to-play browser game.
The story is set between Dragon Age 2 and Dragon Age: Inquisition. You play as the Marquis of Serault, and you’re tasked with managing resources and making decisions that impact the realm. Your goal is to impress the Divine Justinia.
Dragon Age: Inquisition
While it may not be titled ‘Dragon Age 3,’ Inquisition is the third main game in the series. Like the first two titles, it’s an action RPG with a new customizable protagonist.
That main character quickly becomes the most important person in the game’s universe when they prove they have the ability to close rifts in the Veil. This is useful because there is a giant breach in the Veil that is allowing monsters from the Fade to enter the regular world. So, your goal is to use your power to find a way to close it up and stop the invasion.
There Are 7 Dragon Age Games
Overall, there have beenseven Dragon Age games in total.However, most of them have been small spin-offs and mobile titles.
There haveonly been three main entries so far.This doesn’t account for the various DLCs in the series, even though some are more substantial than several of the spin-offs.
Another Dragon Age game named Dragon Age The Veilguard has already been announced. It’s slated to be another main entry in the series.
