Mariohas been charming the hearts of players around the world for ages, spanning multiple generations with games across all genres. One of the key components of the games, however, is the enemies Mario goes up against.

And Mario has faced plenty of enemies over the years, from the common Goomba, stomping on their heads to defeat them, to the villainous Sir Grodus as he hunts after the Crystal Stars, Mario has had his fair share of troubles.

We scoured all the official Mario games across all the platforms he’s been on and gathered up all the enemies from them, bringing them together under one list. Since there are so many enemies and bosses, we broke them up based on each game.

What Mario Games Are We Talking About?

To come up with this list, we’re going to include all possible Mario games, so long as they’re games where Mario and other characters are prominently featured. For instance, we’re going to include the original 1983 Donkey Kong, but not later Donkey Kong games. But we will include games like Yoshi’s Story and Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope since there is a ton of cross over with regular Mario entries and enemies. Hopefully, that helps define which games we’re going to be covering!

So here’s the thing about Mario games, often times there will be enemies that are either very similar or have been redesigned across multiple games. to keep this list in some type of order, we broke down each generation of Nintendo consoles and organized each related game inside. There is some overlap with console and handheld releases, but we tried to keep everything together neatly.
