If you’ve taken up the bounty for Icebeast Chimenzahn inMetaphor: ReFantazio, then you’ll have scoured the Everfrost Forest in search for this elusive beast, only to find that it’s being flanked by a diehard Louis supporter who is every bit as interested in killing you as the bounty beast itself.

Pre-Battle Prep

Bring along a fewAmnesty Talismanstoremove Icebeast Chimenzahn’s high Attack and Defense buff, which it will routinely reacquire via itsBreath of Battleskill. Have someone in your party inheritMakarakarntoremove the Icebeast’s magic repelbuff, too.

Either theprotagonist or Eupha(if going by our party setup) should haveMedicallor the nearest decent equivalent toprovide high party-wide healing.

The party is about to fight Icebeast in Metaphor: ReFantazio.

Other than these tips, you should frankly be fine with what the party naturally brings to the table; Everfrost Forest isn’t exactly the longest, most MP-draining, dungeon in the game.

Soul Hacker*

Front

Have a healing spell at the ready if on heal duties. Maintain castings of Adventurer’s Curiosity to elevate everyone’s critical hit rate.

Use the Winning Horse synthesis skill against the soldier; Fire spells like Seeker’s Flame are sufficient once the soldier is taken out.

The Player Turn window in Metaphor: ReFantazio.

Paladin**

The Wanton Destruction synthesis skill with Basilio should be used to further damage the soldier until it’s down. Makes a good wielder for

Summoner

Back

Summon Gargoyle for Fire damage once the soldier is down. Can assist with other synthesis skills as well. Have a healing spell at the ready

if on heal duties instead of (or in conjunction with) the protagonist. Deploy Amnesty Talismans as needed.

The battle against Icebeast Chimenzahn begins in Metaphor: ReFantazio.

Berserker

Assist the protagonist with Winning Horse against the soldier. Use Wild Bore against the Icebeast afterward. Any inherited Fire skills

Raises its Attack and Defense stats to their three-stage maximum.

Mage Mirror

Puts a barrier over Icebeast Chimenzahn which will repel one elemental attack made against it.

Sacrifice of Life

Sacrifices the last of its HP when at low health to restore the Icebeast.

Battle Strategy

Our first order of business is toeliminate the soldier. There’s very little point in dealing much damage to the Icebeast Chimenzahn beforehand, asthe soldier will cure it with the last of its HP if he isn’t gotten rid of in time.

While it’s quite possible to avoid that scenario by taking him out before he can do so, it’s not worth the risk whenyou will have a harder time damaging the Icebeast before the soldier is gonethanks to the guy’s consistent castings ofMage Mirrorto grant the creatureRepel Magic.

To get rid of that soldier, use Strike-based synthesis skills such as Winning Horse and Wanton Destruction. Have the protagonist useAdventurer’s Curiosity to raise everyone’s critical hit rate, too.

The soldier should go down soon. Afterward, use Amnesty Talismans to get rid of the maximum Attack and Defense buffs that Icebeast Chimenzahn loves to usewith itsBreath of Battleskill, andmaintain party-wide healing to combat the threat of its multi-target attacks.

you’re able to also useMakarakarn, which we recommended you have someone inherit, to get rid of that peskyRepel Magicbuff that the soldier placed upon Icebeast Chimenzahn.

With Repel Magic dispelled, you’ll have an easy time cracking Icebeast Chimenzahn’s substantial defenses withyour highest-powered available Fire-based attacks. These may include:

And, if you’re fortunate enough, even better Fire spells. (It will really depend just how far you are into Metaphor when you take on this boss; we’re rolling on the assumption you fight it shortly after unlocking it.)

If you may getcritical damage (helped along by Adventurer’s Curiosity)after usingChargeon Basilio (or another Berserker, we guess) and then fire offWanton Destruction, you’re looking at over 3,000 damage in a single hit. At that point, it’s just a matter of finishing the job.
