Players are in for a surprise when they realize that if they fail to win the competition on Day Ten, the game ends.Potionomicsis not just a laid-back, cozy game. Players have to thoroughly plan ahead to avoid ending the game too soon.
There is a main story in the game. To get to the end of that story, the game requires players to beat all of the potion-brewing competitors and become the best of the best. Brewing the right potions for a competition requires managing your time, resources, and money accordingly. Here is how to prepare for the competition against Roxanne.
Craft Common Potions Or Better
Your journal will detail what type of potions are required for the upcoming competition. While on the main screen, press X to open your journal or X during Brewing to open the recipe book. Thelast page of this journalwill show your calendar and prerequisites for the competition.
Minor potions and tonics will not be enough. Opponents will be using the best possible tier potion at that point in the game. You will need Common tier potions or better to win against Roxanne on Day Ten.
To create higher tier potions, you will need todouble or triple the magimin ratio. If a potion calls for 1:1 red and yellow magimin, then you can add enough ingredients and magimins to equal 12:12. This creates a stronger potion.
The game will not tell you how to create the bigger version of potions and tonics. You will have to keepadding more of the same magiminsto increase the volume and power of the potion.
Certain cauldrons can only take a certain amount of ingredients and magimins.
MukTuk is a character you can unlock closer to Day Ten, who sells cauldron and shelf upgrades. You won’t have the resources to upgrade the cauldron at this point in the game. Just be on the lookout for thelimited amount of magimins and ingredientsyour cauldron can handle.
While brewing, you will be able to see how many more ingredients you need to add to get to the next tier potion. This is visible at the top of the screen.
As you progress through the first week, you will unlock two more locations to send Mint for resources. The Bone Wasteland and the Mushroom Forest get unlocked a couple of days before the competition.New areaswill grantstronger ingredients.

One Feyberry and one Mandrake Root from the Enchanted Forest will make a Minor Health Potion. What you need is stronger ingredients that contain more red and green magimins than those ingredients listed.
Send Mint to different locations to acquire stronger ingredients. Give some of those ingredients to Quinn so that they can start selling them in the shop to provide you with easier access.

If an ingredient has the right amount of a certain magimin, but also contains a different magimin you do not need, you can still use it. Just make sure to balance out the ratios so that the magimins you need are at a higher value, as to outweigh the one you don’t need.
1 yellow magimin
Fortifies your hero’s mana.
Regularly, Sack of Slime and Mandrake Root will make you a Minor Mana Potion. These ingredients only contain six magimins each. Higher value magimins will create stronger potions.
Throughout your first week, you will be gifted a couple of Common Mana Potions. You can either use these for the competition or sell them right away. Always make excess if you can and then sell what you don’t need.
This is a game where you will have to use multiple saves to avoid wasting time. You could spend the day experimenting with brewing new potions, then reload. With the experimenting, you will be able to find out how to craft a new potion and avoid the wasted days before a competition.

When Should You Make Competition Potions?
You should prepare your competition potions as soon as you can. That way, you can spend the rest of the week earning money instead of juggling both opening shop and preparing for the competition.
Place your competition potions on the display shelves to avoid selling them by accident. Just remember to collect them before the day of the competition!
Brewing a greater-tier potion will take awhole day or even two to complete. You gainaccess to Quinn and Mintby Day Five or so. These NPCs will give you access to ingredients. After unlocking these two NPCs, you’re able to start preparing the necessary potions.
You should have the necessary potions at leastthree to four days before the competition.
How To Win The Competition Against Roxanne
Even if you craft the same tier potion as Roxanne, her potions will be priced higher than yours. During the deal, you will have to convince Robin to pay more for your potions. To win against Roxanne, you will have to get at leastone dollar higher than her.
Her potions get priced at60 goldfor the Common Health Potion to75 goldfor the Common Fire Tonic, during the competition.
If you fail one deal, you can still win the competition by getting a decent price listing for the other potions.
Technically, you don’t NEED Common potions or greater, so long as you can use buffs toincrease Interestenough to sell the potion for the same price or more. Having a Common potion or higher just allows you to have a better chance of winning. The game is all about managing Stress and increasing Interestusing your cards.
