Vermiglio, The Red Prior Attacks
Vermiglio is fairly easy to deal with up close, but if he manages to create some distance, it becomes extremely difficult to approach him. The boss has somepowerful ranged attacksthat you have to watch out for. If you do manage to get close to him, the boss will switch tophysical attacks, which are considerably easier to deal with than his ranged attacks.
How To Avoid
Red Ball Of Fatuo
Vermiglio may throw asingular magic projectiletowards the Maskless One from his staff. This attack is quite fast, and the projectile explodes on contact with you. The boss may also use this move repeatedly in quick succession if you’re too far away.
If you see it coming, you can tryparrying it. However, the better way to avoid this attack is to simplydodge to the sides. Due to the projectile being quite fast, it is also fairly linear and can be avoided if you dodge at the correct time.
Reversal Swing
The boss willbring down his staff diagonally for a downward swing. Right after the downward swing has been executed, Vermiglio willunleash an upward swing, tracing the same path as the first swing but in the opposite direction. There’s a very slight delay between the first and the second strike. The boss may also stop after the first strike and return to his regular stance.
The second hit of this attack can easily catch you off guardif you’re not aware of it. The slight delay between the attacks may look like an opening, but it is not. However, this attack is alsoincredibly easy to parryif you manage to parry the first hit, just press the parry button again immediately afterward, and you’ll get a perfect parry on the second hit as well.
Horizontal Slash
The boss will swing his staff for ahorizontal slash. Vermiglio often uses this attack when the Maskless One is at close range.
Watch for his hand, and parry exactlywhen the arm is about to hit you, and you’ll be able to successfully parry the attack. You can also dodge backwards to avoid this attack.
Sacrifice To The Goddess
At close range, Vermiglio will put his left arm on this chest, and bring out aFatuo-infused dagger for a horizontal slash. After the attack, Vermiglio will pierce his own heart with the dagger, dealing little damage to himself.
Parrying this attack can be difficult as it is quite fast. You canrepeatedly dodge to the back to avoid itwhen you see him bring his hand to his chest. Using theHard Stone gemto parry this attack will deal some slight chip damage to you, so you’ll have touse the Indaco Tear parry gemto completely negate all the damage from this attack by parrying.
Spinning Attack
The boss willspin and then strikethe Maskless One with his staff.
This attack is fairlyeasy to parry due to its distinct animation, but you can also avoid it by dodging to the back.
Fatuo Shockwave
After you’ve taken out half of his HP, the boss will use this move where heslams his staff on the ground, unleashing ashockwave in a large AOE.
This attack can only beavoided by jumping. Watch for the shockwave on the ground and jump over it.
Barrier Of Fatuo
Vermiglio willsummon a red cloud and several magical ballswill come down from it. Once the casting is complete, several pillars of Fatuo energy will surround the boss, making it difficult to approach him.
When you see this attack coming, sprint away or dodge to your backrepeatedly to get out of its range. You cannot approach Vermiglio while this attack is active, and will have to deal with his ranged attacks until the the pillars fade away.
Beam Of Fatuo
When the Maskless One is far away, the boss will unleash abeam from his mouth. The beamtravels downwards to upwards and then comes down again. This attack can kill you in one hit if you take it head-on.
Theattack cannot be parried, and dodging it is difficultas well. It is easily his most annoying attack to deal with, but if youdodge to the sides exactly when the beam starts to come up or down, you may be able to avoid it or at least receive reduced damage compared to a direct hit.
Five Balls Of Fatuo
The boss will summonfive red orbs, that follow the Maskless One.
you may try parrying each orb, but it is risky. The best way to avoid this attack is torun away till the orbs explodeon their own.
