Potionomicscompiles many genres into one. You have a card game, a shop management game, and even a bit of a dating sim. The basis of the game is the card game, which is why learning it will take you far.
Completing a deal with customers or during a competition will unlock more of the game or potentially send you to the Game Over screen. Once you get the hang of the card game success will come easily, allowing you to upgrade your shop and focus more on cultivating romantic or platonic relationships.
Each Card Costs Patience
Much like using a magic spell requires mana, using a card costs Patience. Each customer will come in with adifferent level of Patience, and the customer’sPatience gets used with every actionin the card deal.
Ending your turn will take Patience as well, but it’s not the same every time so be aware of what you are selecting. Ending the turn usually takes one or two Patience.
If you fail to sell the potion without the customer’s Patience hitting zero, the customer leaves and you will not make any money. The goal here is toincrease the price of your potionas much as you may with the limited amount of Patience available and then sell it.
Your Goal Is To Increase Interest
To increase the price of the potion you’re selling, you need to play cards that increase Interest; themore interesteda customer is in the potion,the more they will pay for it. The starter cards available don’t increase Interest by more than nine points.
Side characters that are available to visit can give you better cards if you increase your friendship with them.
Muktuk has a good starter cardthat raises interest bysixteen points. Level up his friendship for the second time to receive this card.
Avoid Getting Stressed
During your turn, you have to work to increase Interest. When it’s the customer’s turn, they will attempt to lower the value of the potion and increase your Stress levels. Getting stressedadds unplayable cardsto your deck that further increase Stress unless you manage it.
When you become stressed during a deal or competition, you will not be able to sell your potion for a lot and your cards will decrease in effect. The interest points available on a card willdecreasewith the more stressed you get.
Collect The Right Cards From Friends
Cultivating your romantic or platonic relationships with characters will unlock cards to add to your deck. Each friend specializes in their techniques; for instance, Saffron’s cards revolve around decreasing Stress andbalancing negative debuffsduring battle.
It will benefit you to figure out which cards get unlocked and when, and to quickly collect those cards before the next competition. Not having the right card deck during a competition could mean Game Over.
Figure out what your weakness is during deals. Do you get stressed easily or struggle to increase Interest? Get closer with the NPC that offers cards better suited for your playstyle.
