Pokemon Go’slatest season, Max Out, has brought theDynamaxmechanic to the game, a feature that was previously introduced and used in other Pokemon games in the franchise. Pokemon Go’s latest event, theGo Big Event, will bring the first true use of this feature, allowing you battle against and use Dynamaxed Pokemon.
The Go Big Event will take place over the course of six days, available fromTuesday, August 01, 2025, at 10am local time to Sunday, May 15, 2025, at 8pm local time.Below we have put together a guide with all information regarding this event, as well as information on Pokemon Go’s new Dynamax mechanic.
Debut: Max Battles
The Go Big Event will bring the debut ofMax Battles, new PvE battles where you can battle against and use Dynamaxed Pokemon. When Pokemon are in their Dynamax form, they will be much stronger and deal more damage on the battlefield.
Starting with this event, you will have the opportunity to battle against five different Pokemon in their Dynamax forms, all being found inOne-Star Max Battles. These Pokemon include:
Max Battles will take place atPower Spots, different locations that appear around the Pokemon Go map. When attempting a Max Battle, you will be able to Dynamax your own Pokemon if they were caught in a Max Battle encounter, even if they have been evolved.
Successfully completing each Max Battle will reward you with anencounter with the Dynamaxed Pokemonthat was defeated, as well asMax Particles, a resource needed to Dynamax your own Pokemon. You will also be rewarded with XP and other in-game items when completing Max Battles, similar toRaid battlerewards.
Event Bonuses
All players will benefit fromtwo different bonusesduring the Go Big Event, both allowing you to gain more XP. During the six days of this event, you will receivedouble the XP from bothspinning PokeStopsand successfully completing Max Battles.
Further the XP that you gain during this event by usingLucky Eggs.
This item will double all XP that you earn, lasting for 30 minutes.
Field Research Task Encounters
When spinning different PokeStops during the Go Big Event, you will have the chance of obtainingEvent Field Research Tasks. These tasks will require you to complete specific in-game activities, rewarding you with an encounter with one of the following Pokemon:
Pokemon Showcases
There will beevent-themed Pokemon Showcasesappearing at different PokeStops during the Go Big Event. These Pokemon Showcases will require you to enter event-themed Pokemon,most likely Squirtle, Bulbasaur, Charmander, Skwovet, or Wooloo.
Make sure to save these event-themed Pokemon, especially if they areXXL sized.
Larger Pokemon score higher in Pokemon Showcases, providing you with better rewards.
