Star Wars Outlawsthrives at crafting experiences where you get to infiltrate heavily-guarded enemy strongholds and steal some of the finest resources. Early on in the game, you’re met with a scenario where you must steal parts for your blaster, in an attempt to complete a job for Danka.
After speaking with Danka at Manka’s Gambling Parlor, you’ll be tasked with New Tricks, a mission that lets you choose a path, steal an important tool, and feel nonchalantly smug while doing so. Navigating certain locations while being stealthy can be tricky, but not when you have Nix and rebelliousness on your side.
Mission Objective
As Danka talks about a new job for Kay,there’s an upgrade you need for Kay’s blaster. To acquire this, Danka asks you tovisit a nearby pawn shop. Once you follow up on this part of the quest, you may acquire the Ion Casing for free.
However, Kay needs more than just that for this upgrade, and theextra part happens to be illegal.Being the unlikely-warranted outlaw that you are, stealing is the only way forward. Fortunately,Waka will fill you inon important details as you journey through this quest.
This is one of the earliest missions thatoffers you two choices. You can either get aneasy entry into the Crimson Dawn territoryand steal the part. Or,break into the Pykes' territoryand get it.
Both choices havedifferent consequences, and you’re able to decide which faction you’d like to mess with. If you wish to see both these outcomes, we suggest saving the game in advance so you can re-do the mission later.
This mission also lets youtest your stealth skills, as most of the tasks never require you to take out any guards. So,keep the take-downs to the minimum, and attempt to get things done without making any noise.
Depending on your reputation with each faction, you might be able to just walk in. Otherwise, you’ll have tosneak in and stay hidden.
Based on which faction you steal from, your rewards and reputation will change. So, choose wisely.
Stealing From The Pykes
When approaching Pyke territory, you’llnotice an iconthat indicates a friendly stranger who might grant you access.Ignore this, and make your way through the alleyway. Squeeze through the gap, and next to you there’s a camera eagerly keeping an eye.
Ask Nix to do his thing, and disable the power. you may now startunlocking the ventthat leads to the room that holds the upgrade.
Avoid taking out any guards here, as it’s extremely risky to do so.Rather, stick to the walls and don’t let them see you. Since the safe room is fairly nearby, you’ll mostlybe busy lockpickingand accessing vents. Once you’rein the room, you don’t have to worry about being stealthyanymore.
Next, loot the chest to the right, and you’re halfway through the quest. You can also spend some extra time here, regardless of how uncomfortable it may make you feel. Nothing about this is legal, butthe rewards might be worth it.
Time toexit this place, and listen to Waka’s next set of instructions.
You can finda keycard in a nearby outpostthat will disable the energy barrier in this room. This is completely optional.
Stealing From The Crimson Dawn
If you choose tosteal from the Crimson Dawninstead, and break their newfound trust (we’re not judging), you canhead to the other side of the map.On your map, you’ll noticeeasy access to this territory, and all you need to do is walk in.The faction trusts you enough for this, and getting here will be no problem at all.
Everything after this is going to be a little tricky. As youmake your way through the kitchen, you’ll be greeted by aheavily guarded space.
You’ll noticetwo guards standing at an entranceto a launch pad of some kind, holding a ship. You need to get to this place, but via another route.Keep moving to the guards' left side, and you’ll notice a small opening.
Once you’re in, the big bold"restricted area" warningwill appear on-screen. Perfect! Time to be sneaky.
Notice that fanto the side? You need tomake it stop, and this can be done byasking Nix to hold down the lever not far from it. There aretwo guards patrollingthis area, so be careful.Disable the fan, walk past the blades, and you’ll begreeted by a ladderthat will take you down to a safe room.
Just like in the Pyke territory, this placeholds a safe that contains the upgrade you need, along with other optional rewards. Theseextra quests will be added to your journal, so you’re able to visit them again later whenever you wish to. For the time being, take what you need, and get ready to head back.
The moment you’re caught, it’s game over. You’ll be taken out of the zone. However, you’re free to break-in again and give it another try.
Heading To Jaunta’s Hope
Now that you’ve got your hands on the part needed for the upgrade, it’s time to head toJaunta’s Hope. This is where you’ll be assembling the Ion Module, and you cantake your speeder to this settlement. You’re free to explore the world at this point, but it’s best to complete this mission, as there’s not much remaining.
Once youreach the Trailblazer, meet with Waka. After a short conversation, you’ll be able toenter the ship and use the workbenchto upgrade your blaster. Simply walk in,find the workbench to your left and interact with it. You can thenselect the Module you wish to upgrade and choose “Ion”.
The moment you do this, your blaster can fire burst rounds, which will be useful for mission objectives as well as combat situations.
As you exit the ship, you’ll be traveling toa location where a hidden stash awaitsyou.
You can switch between your preferred modes of firing by pressing Triangle on the PlayStation 5, Y on the Xbox and 2 on PC.
The Smuggler’s Stash
Throughout the different tasks, it’s easy to forget why you’re here! Now that you have the much-needed upgrade, you need toget the stash mentioned by Danka. To do so,head to the new location on the map. This place isn’t too far from Jaunta’s Hope, and you’ll know you’re here when youspot a small cabin-esque building.
You cannot enter the house by simply opening the door. Instead, look carefully through the house’s window, and you’llspot a capacitor. You need toshoot this with blaster’s burst rounds.
Justa few rounds will do the trick, and you don’t need to keep firing. The moment you do,it’ll charge and unlock the door.Once you’re in, you’llfind the smuggler’s stash. Acquire it, and meet Danka next.
The map will guide you to the Cantina in this settlement, and that’s where Danka will be patiently waiting for you.
Talk to her, and you’lllearn more about everything else you can explore next.Once you’re done with the mission, there’s no obligation to stick around, and you’re free to explore the world. You can even start thinking aboutspeeder upgradesnow, as Danka informs you about new possibilities in that context.
