Restless Spiritsis one of theearliest quests you get inDragon Age: The Veilguard’sNecropolisafter recruiting Emmrich, and has two basic functions - it allows you toexplore the geography of undead palacea little more freely, andintroduces you to the various mechanicsthat make the spooky pantheon so interesting.
It involveschasing Wisps, and is mostly non-combat until the end. Despite this quest seeming to suit Emmrich, it’s narratively light and hasenemies Resistant to Necrotic damage, so we suggestleaving Emmrich (and Lucanis) behindat the Lighthouse. Since some of these enemies are Vulnerable to Electricity and others Vulnerable to Cold, taking Bellara and Nevethe sensible move here.
Gather All The Wisps In The Belfry
There arefour Wispsin total you need to grab at the start of this quest. For the first, in thenorth west corner, go to the marker andInteract with both torches. When they glow green, the Wisp appears in the middle. UseR1/RB to release it, thentake it to the nearby gate.
The second Wisp, in thesouth west corner, is behind a metal door lit by a purple gem. Go inside and find a Venatori wall.Ignore the shielded crystalsfor now, andpull the leveron the back wall.
Thisopens the room next door, so leave and head around to it, where you candestroy the unshielded crystal. Before leaving, fire aranged attack at the crystal you can see through the broken fenceat the left to the entrance.
Go back into the first room anddestroy the now unshielded crystal, thenattack the crystal in the wall to free the Wisp. Take it to the gate where you took the first one.
For the third Wisp, head to the door in thenorth eastof the belfry. Inside, you will grab +3 Ethric Remnant, and seeunlit candles. To light them you must…
When all the candles are lit, a Wisp appears. Take it to the same gate as the first two. That leaves the final Wisp in thesouth west.Head tothe door you may open, to the right of the one you can’t (and the one that has the Wisp).
Go in andsmash the boxes to reveal a lever. Pull the lever toopen the other door, go inside, and…the last Wisp flies away. Dang it. Head back outside, wherea glowing purple riftwill appear. UseR1/RB to interactwith it, and a skeletal hand will appear.Climb it and grab the Wisp.
Take it to the same gate, and it can finally open.
Defeat The Demons
Inside this gate, several Shades await you. You wantBellara on area control with the regular Shades, as these areVulnerable to Electricdamage, whileNeve should focus on the Orbiting Envy Demon, as this isVulnerable to Cold damage. Thisdemon is also much tankierand comes withBarrier, soRook should go for ranged attacks.
This isa thin but long battle arena, so be prepared tododge back when you get crowded. Also watch out for theflaming spheresthat fire, well, fire at you. These aredestroyed when the Envy Demon falls, but cannot otherwise be harmed, sododge when the flames swing your way and get back to a safe distance. The Envy Demon also has azoning attack of spirit missilesthat you need tododge away from late.
We said the quest has two basic functions, but it also has a more interesting one. As it ends, you will be standing in front of an ominous door in the Chamber of the Unforged, wherea yellow side quest marker will popup. This startsPinnacle of its Kind, which involves defeating high level demons across the realm before returning to open it.
This quest is likely way too difficult at this stage, as the point is to chip away through the game. However, when you’re ready, you canfind out more in our Pinnacle of its Kind guide.
