Players will stumble upon hidden quests inMirthwood. Shadow In The Night is a quest that can be triggered if you head to the cemetery in Brightoak. The cemetery is on the east side of town. There is a note on a chair, that once read, will initiate this quest.

Shadow In The Night will lead you on a goose chase, trying to find out what all these strange markings mean. The finale of this quest gives you a chance to earn or lose Morality. Completing side quests like this is a great way to farm Morality points.

Search For Clues

After starting the quest from theBrightoak cemetery, you will have to look for clues of a dangerous monster around Brightoak. These clues will all be found withinMurkwater Marsh, south of Brightoak.

Quest objectives are sometimes displayed on themapas ayellow highlighted circle. This is the general location of where to find the next part of a quest.

The first clue is atattered notenext to someruins. From Brightoak, follow the south path into the marshes and walk straight down until you see a broken-down wagon.

From the wagon, head straight to the right until you find some ruins and a note.

Once you have found the note, the quest will change toContinue Searching. The last clue isclaw markings on a tree.

There are some trees in Brightoak that have claw markings on them. You only need to investigate one tree to continue.

Head back to thesouthbound path. The tree is on the left side of the trail. When you get closer, amagnifying glassicon will appear on the tree.

Find Markus

The last objective is to use the clues you found to reach Markus, who can be found at theyellow highlighted circle on the map. When you meet up with Markus, you find he is a villager native to Brightoak who turns into a werewolf.

There are two decisions you’re able to make here. You can either kill Markus or leave him alone. Leaving Markus alone grants you +5 Morality and the completion of the quest. Killing Markus grants you +5 Renown and a couple of useful items.

One of those items isMarkus' Tooth. This is a valuable equippable charm. Even if you don’t want its benefits, you’re able to sell it for decent money at the start of the game.

Additional5% damageagainst Wolves and Werewolves.

You getbetter rewards by killing Markus, but it will be almost impossible to kill him by yourself at the beginning of the game. This is an early-game quest, so chances are that you are underprepared for a boss fight.

Markus' health can be whittled down with a Rusty Iron Sword. The main issue is that heinflicts tons of damageand can kill you easily. We have found that you can lure Markusinto townand have thevillagers helpattack him.
