Romancing Saga 2: Revenge of the Seven’s Diver is another one of those fancy late-game hybrid classes. Not only are the competent magic users, with a healthy proficiency for water magic, but they are capable fighters as well. Add to that a pretty potent class ability, and you’ll understand why you’ll want to recruit these suave swimmers.
The quest to unlock the Diver class is directly intertwined with the Sunken Ship dungeon and Garon the ghost pirate. Which, of course, means that this guide will focus primarily on how you unlock that dungeon, and how then, once you do, how to beat it.
The Storm and the Sunken Ship
So, the first thing you will have had to do to get the ball rolling isdefeat Garon in theGaron’s Rebellion quest. Additionally, you will need to have obtained the Mermaid Potion, which meansyou will need to have completed theSearching for the Mermaid questas well.After a time skip, The Storm and the Sunken Ship quest should become available. Once it does, you’re able to head to Toba and get started with recruiting the Diver.
Meeting The Diver In Toba
The thing you’ll need to do first is the usual talk to all the villagers song and dance. Which means you’ll need to look for every villager that has a quest marker above their head, and chat them up. Once you’ve done that, simply head to the tavern and talk to the diver. Now, speak to the sailor on the dock.As long as you have the Mermaid Potion, you will now be able to reach the Sunken Ship.You can head over there and get started with the meat of this quest.
Clearing Out The Sunken Ship
Head for the hole in the haul, then, enter the door to your left. Once in that room, head through the hole in the wall of the cabin, and exit through the door (sprint past the skeletons). Take a left and head up the stairs (there is a chest in the room to your right). On the second floor, head straight, and enter through the door on your right, you will now be teleported by a purple mist down the hall. There are three doors here.Exiting these rooms will lead to you being teleported to different locations in this hall. The first of the three doors (the eastmost door on the map), will take you past the debris and allow you to progress.
Head down the stairs and back down to the first floor. Head to the middle door, and run straight ahead. You’ll need to weave around a pair of zombies. Once you enter the hallway, you’ll be able to head to your left and up the stairs.
The room to the left of that one has a chest in it. When you open it, it will split into two. The chest on the left has an Aenema Drought.
On the next floor, you will have another hallway with teleporting doors. The first door will teleport you to outside the third room. Leaving through the second door will lead to the fifth room. The third door leads to the first. The fourth door leads to the second. But… none of this matters.you may just run to the end of the hallway, enter the fifth room, exit through the hole, and then travel up the stairs.
The Haunted Tavern
You’ll now be on the deck of the ship. Cross over to the cabin door across the way. Enter that door, talk to the tavern keeper, and you will fight five skull demons. You’ll now be on the other end of the counter.
From there, head up the stairs, head straight, and take a left at the end of the hall (you will need to duck around some enemies, and avoid another monster looking to ambush you just before you turn to the corner). Keep turning those corners, and you will end up at the save point. Unsurprisingly, the door next to it leads to the boss of the Sunken Ship.
The Garon Boss Fight
Garon is weak to holy magic, fire magic, water magic, and wind magic. Garon’s favorite attack is the Whirlwind Technique. So, if you have the evasion for that attack already, this will be a very easy fight. However, even if you don’t have that, you can take advantage of Garon’s focus on using a wind magic-based attack. So, have the Missile Shield will help you tremendously. Beyond that, he will attack you with sword-based attacks, so having a tanky fighter to take the bulk of his attacks, is pretty valuable.

Recruiting The Diver Class
After having re-killed Garon, head back to Toba, and you speak to the Diver once more. No matter what option you choose, she will join your army. You’ll find that she is a great choice for a sturdy healer who can use magic effectively (water-based magic is her specialty, of course). She doesn’t have an abnormally high strength stat, but it is solid enough, and she makes up for any shortfall with her excellent stamina.
