Enotria: The Last Songis home to many tough adversaries that the Maskless One will come across. Some of these bosses are a lot more challenging than others and represent a clear difficulty spike, and you need to beat them to progress further to chapter three.
Baldovino is one of the strongest bosses you may encounter early on. This boss guards access to Litumnia and can be one of the first bosses you face who is aligned with Malanno. Baldovino hits incredibly hard, and to make matters worse, there is a hound nearby that can make the fight even more difficult.
How To Find Baldovino
Baldovino can be reached after defeatingZanni, The First Mask, and gainingaccess to the Theater of the Maskshub. You will have totalk to Pulcinella, who is sitting on the stage in front of the Theater of the Masks Knot.
After defeating Zanni, The First Mask, the player is meant to head for Chapter 2. However, you can still face and defeat Baldovino to unlock Litumnia, Chapter 3.
Talking to Pulcinella willunlock two doors in the Quinta region. One of these doors can be reached after progressing downwards from theSchool of Zanni Knot.
As you travel downstairs, you’ll encounter aCrushing Laughter enemy. Keep heading downwards until you come across a group of enemies singing and dancingin front of a gate that was closed before.
As you pass through the gate, you’ll find theEast Docks Knotto the right. After resting at the Knot, head to the tower-like building on the right to find an elevator. Take the elevator down.
You will findtwo hounds, and an enemy wielding a torch there. Defeat them and progress ahead to find Baldovino.
Baldovino Attacks
Baldovino hits incredibly hard and has a few attacks that can kill you with one hit. Additionally, due to his attacks being imbued with Malanno, you’re able to get theSick status effectand will take damage over time.
Most ofBaldovino’s attacks revolve around delayed timing, so if you find a way to deal with that, you will be able to come out victorious.
How To Avoid
Jump Attack
Baldovino will jump into the air, andslam his polearmon the ground on landing.
You can avoid this attack bysimply creating some distance. Despite the boss jumping into the air, this attack has a fairly short range. You can alsododge to the sides exactlywhen the boss is about to hit the ground to avoid this attack.
Run-Up Delayed Slash
The boss willrun in your direction, raising his arm as if he is about to attack you. This is a delayed attack and deals a ton of damage.
The best way toavoid this attack is to watch for his arm. You have toparry exactly when the boss starts to bring his arm downfor the swing. Getting better at this will require some practice. You can also avoid this attack by repeatedly dodging to the back and creating some distance so that when the boss finally decides to swing his polearm, you will be out of its range.
Two-Hit Slashes
Baldovinograbs his polearm with both of his hands, bringing it down for two quick swings. The boss may also launch a third attack, by running up to you and launching a delayed slash.
The first two hits are not delayed and may be theeasiest to dodge and parry. You have to dodge back to get out of the swing’s range.
Three-Hit Swing Combo
The boss willswing his polearm left to rightand vice versa for the first two attacks. The third attack is where he smashes his polearm on the ground.
you may easilyparry every hit in this sequence. You can also avoid this attack by dodging and creating some distance.
One-Handed Judgement
Probably the most annoying and hard to deal with attack. The boss will walk in your face with hispolearm raised high in the air with one hand. After a random delay, the boss will bring the polearm down and if you take this attack head-on, you will likely die.
If you’re confident in your ability to parry, only then should you stay in his face. Otherwise, the best way todeal with this attack is to start sprinting awayand wait for him to finish the attack.
Malanno Massacre
When you’re at close range, the boss will repeatedlyslam you with his polearm. Baldovino can also pair it with some other attacks, such as theThree-Hit Swing Combo. you may recognize that the boss is finally done swinging his polearm when he throws a final delayed swing.
you may simply stand and parry each hit of this attack to fill hisUnravel bar as this attackis one of the easier ones to parry.
How To Defeat Baldovino
Facing Baldovino requires a lot of patience and preparation, especially if you’re facing him early on.Be extremely wary of the hound on the right side of the boss arenaas it has a lot more HP than regular hounds and while it doesn’t deal a lot more damage, it can makeBaldovino’s attacks a lot more difficult to avoid.
You can jump straight off the ledge instead of going through the stairs to the boss arena if you want to focus on the hound first. Doing so will allow you to get rid of the hound first so that you can focus on the boss.
Due to Baldovino’s affinity with Malanno, you shoulduse Mask Lines and weapons thatdeal Vis damage. There are a few Vis-imbued weapons that you can encounter early on, such as the Cooper’s Hammer, which is also a good choice for this battle if you’veupgraded it to at least +6.
You will also have tofocus a lot on your survivability. Equipping Guise of Zanni is easily the best choice as it gives you extraArmonia Flask charges. The Aspect of Zanni is also a good option because of theincrease to the Bruiser’s Virtue.
Parrying Baldovino’s attacks deal significant chip damage to the Maskless One, even after perfect parries. You will have to use the Indaco Tear gem to reduce the chip damage. You can reduce it even further by equipping the Stalwart Duelist perk, which allows you to heal a small portion of your max HP after each perfect parry.
Practice your parries and recognize which attacks leave the boss open for you to get in a swing. Make sureyou have enough healing and also watch for your surroundings. It can be a lot more difficult to avoid his attacks if there’s no room to back off.
If you get inflicted bythe Sick status effect, it is best to retreat and take a sip from your Armonia Flask.
Rewards For Defeating Baldovino

After you’ve defeated the boss, you canhead over to the docks and talk to Pulcinella. If you agree with him, you will receive the Large Vitreus Blade Greatsword. you’re able to then approach the ship at the end of the docks andinteracting with it will allow you to travel to Litumnia.
