Fire And Ice is an intense story mission inDragon Age: The Veilguardwhere you will comeface to face with the dragon that you scared off in Minrathous or Treviso, depending on which city you saved. It’s a chance for revenge, and to finish what you started. It’s alsoextremely difficult if you don’t have the right toolsby your side.
While you begin by fighting whicheverdragon you initially fought off, it issoon joined by the other one, so you will need to beprepared for a double dragon fight. Withone dragon Vulnerable to Fireand theother to Cold, we suggest taking Taash and Neve (if she is not Hardened)orTaash and Harding (if she is),ashealing Abilities will be necessary.
Defeat Corius The Icetalon
Whichever dragon you faced originally will be the one Ghilan’nain sends in first. If you saved Treviso, that will beCorius The Icetalon. Since it isVulnerable to Fire, you wantTaash to hit Corius with their best Abilities. You should alsokeep your distanceanddodge its ice bombs, diving behind it when itslegs glow purple.
Corius hits hard, but there’sno time limit, so you canstay back and keep yourself safe. If you take damage, it is better tosave your health potions and instead be healed by Neve or Hardinghere.
Also, since the dragon is so large, any area Abilities tend to do a lot of damageand be highly effective. You should alsosave your Ultimate until it Staggers(Harding is effective here) andaim at its glowing purple underbelly.
Defeat Seartooth Vyrantus
If you instead saved Minrathous, you will not fight Corius The Icetalon alone, but instead will take onSeartooth Vyrantus. Thetacticsdescribed above arelargely the same, in that you shouldkeep your distance, dodge projectiles, andaim for the legs when they glow.
Likewise, taking your timeand usinghealing Abilities rather than potionsis important too. Finally, keep your Ultimate for when you Stagger the dragon. However, onekey differenceis how you mightuse Stagger.
If youhave Neve, then nothing much changes. UseNeve’s hardest hitting Abilitiesand make do with Taash being less effective. However, if you instead takeHarding and Taash, you can’t exploit Seartooth’s Vulnerabilities and instead shouldfocus on raising its Stagger as quickly as possibleso you canunleash strong damage when its underbelly is exposed.
Defeat Both Dragons In Fire And Ice
Once youdefeat whichever dragon you fought first, it will unfortunatelyheal to full healthand thesecond dragon will join it. You mightthink that the tactic is now to do both of the above, but that’snot really true. There’sa specific tacticto fighting two dragons at once, and itmostly involves forgetting that you’re fighting two dragonsat once.
While you should stillkeep your distance, be agile whendodging, and remainpatient, it’s better tofocus on one dragon at a timethan go after both. This should beCorius The Icetalon, sinceTaash hits harder than Neve, and that’seven easier if you take Harding along instead.
Once you getone dragon to just over half health, theAntivan Crows or Shadow Dragons(depending on which faction you saved) will arrive to help. Their attackgets both dragons to half health, and after this yougo back to focusing on Corius The Icetalonuntil it falls. When it does, switch the focus to Seartooth Vyrantus.
A key thing to remember is thatanything that is not targeting a specific elemental weaknesson the dragonsshould be making them Stagger. When both dragons have been defeated, the quest ends.
