How To Find Cliff Hudson

On thesecond dayof the outbreak, Frank receives acall from Otisat8amduring the Medicine Run Main Quest about a “Big dude carryin' a machete” inCrislip’s Home Saloon,a hardware store in theNorth Plaza.

Upon receiving this message, aScoopopportunity titled ‘The Hatchet Man’ will become available, allowing you tohead to Crislip’s Home Saloonand take down Cliff Hudson.Entering the hardware store will trigger a cutscene, leading directly into the battleafter it plays out.

Frank West, in a crop top, booty shorts, wearing a horse head mask, entering the blood-soaked hardware store where Cliff Hudson resides in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster.

Cliff has captured three Survivors, so you may have to free up some room before Otis calls you. There can only be eight Survivors in the mall at a time, so if Otis doesn’t call you at 8am on the second day, rescue Survivors until he does. You can also kill them… but we recommend against doing so as it is a waste of PP!

How To Defeat Cliff Hudson

While this fight is quite different from the others, there are afew things we strongly recommend grabbingbefore heading into Crislip’s Home Saloon.First,have lots ofOrange Juiceon you for healing. you may grab this atColombian RoastmastersinParadise Plaza.

Next, we recommend bringingeither a Handgun,whichdrops from the Cop Zombiesfound around the mall, or theSubmachine Gun,located on theawning above Shoekin’sinParadise Plaza.Don’t worry about grabbing a melee weapon for this encounter, as there is aunique item in the arena itself that will give you an upper handin that regard!

Cliff’s Moves

When the encounter begins,Cliff will be running around the hardware store, brandishing his Machete.He willtry to get behind you and stab you in the back,dealing considerable amounts of damage, soconstantly have your head on a swivel and evadethe moment he gets close to you.

After creating some distance,head near the front of the store to find a row of Chainsaws,pick one up, andturn it on by pressing R2/RT.With the Chainsaw in hand, you canbegin running toward Cliff and slashing him when you get closeto deal substantial damage to him.

Lowering his health roughly halfwaywill haveCliff leap on top of the shelvesin the store and beginlighting and tossing Pipe Bombsat Frank. You canrun to the opposite side of the store to avoid themaltogether, or you canattempt to shoot him with your Submachine Gunto deal considerable damage to him.

We recommend just running away from him here, as there is no real reason to put yourself at risk. However, if you’re able to get an angle on him where he cannot hit you with the Pipe Bombs, you can safely unload on him with your SMG to deal considerable damage.

From here,he will jump down again and will begin running aroundthe hardware store,utilize the Chainsaw againto carve off large chunks of his health. When he’salmost dead, he will disappear and reappear,trying to sneak attack you. When yousee him behind you, quickly slash him with the Chainsawto deliver the finishing blow!

Rewards For Defeating Cliff Hudson

Delivering the finishing blow on Cliff Hudson will have him say his final words, making you feel sort of bad for the guy in a way. After the cutscene plays out, you will be able topick up his Machete,which will now be apermanent spawn within the Crislip’s Home Saloon.

You will alsoreceive the Empty Store Key.Use this Key toopen the abandoned store directly next to Crislip’s,allowing you tofree the three Survivorshe took hostage. From here,guide Barbara, Josh, and Rich back to the Security Roomto receive even more PP!

Defeating Cliff Hudson will count toward your progress for the Punisher Achievement/Trophy, where you must defeat ten Psychopaths during the 72-Hour Mode of the game.
