The “Gate” series of quests inDragon Age: The Veilguardsends you on a journey across the land to hunt down champions residing in Blight Cysts and return their Champion Essence to certain tree roots in the Converged City.
Much like the Hauntings quests, these missions send you to a given location where you’ll scour the area for the champion hidden within their Blight Cyst. In Gate of Deep Sorrows, you’ll need to find a group of Venatori who are performing a ritual near one of these Blight Cysts. Stop them and prepare to face an even greater challenge once you unleash the champion.
Where To Find The Champion In Gate Of Deep Sorrows
Head to theTreviso Canalsand fast-travel to theCrow’s Road Rooftopsbeacon, then follow your marker.
Jump across a gapand follow the path along the right side to an opencourtyard.
When you arrive, you’ll see a small group of Venatori performing some sort of ritual in the courtyard, which is home to a large, pulsingBlight Cystin the corner.
The Venatori are weak toColdand resistFire.
Once you sweep up the Venatori, turn your attention to the Blight Cyst andrelease Desmal, Bloodbound to Elgar’nan.
How To Kill Desmal, Bloodbound To Elgar’nan
Desmal is aColossal level 25opponent imbued withPhysicalandNecroticdamage who is weak toFirebut resistsNecrotic.
This enemy can inflict a world of pain on you and your companions using its wide range and series of earth-shattering attacks that canspawn red spikes along the ground.
Thesered spikes can inflict heavy damage, so being caught in a ground-slam combo will hurt.
Staying mobileis the best way to avoid melee attacks, while most ranged attacks are telegraphed and will require a carefully timed dodge to escape.
Desmal’s leap attack can also spawn red spikes when it hits the ground, so keep your head on a swivel andprioritize avoiding damage,or you won’t survive long enough to attack.
Destroy the Blight Boilsthat appear periodically throughout the fight, or they will span more groups of lesser enemies.
Staggering Desmal is extremely effective, as it opens up this beast to a series of follow-up attacks that can deal huge amounts of damage.
Combine the staggering with detonation combinations and Desmal will go down in no time.
What Rewards Do You Get From Gate Of Deep Sorrows?
Defeating Desmal will award you with the following rewards:
Collect thechampion’s essencefrom the fallen foe’s body and bring it to theConverged City,which will complete the Gate of Deep Sorrows.
