Pre-Battle Prep

It probably goes without saying that you need to reach the end of theKriegante Castle dungeonbefore you may wage war on this infantile enemy. But through doing so,you may have already learned the key to victory.

That’s because we have a section ondriving back Homo Jaluzoduring the hide-and-seek sequence, when it’sstill known only as “???”. If you manage to dothat, then at minimum, this fight won’t be any harder.

Heismay learns the Phantom Tracer synthesis skill during battle with Homo Jaluzo in Metaphor: ReFantazio.

Regardless, your best bet is to hook Heismay up with the Faker Archetype’s Tarundaskill.More on that in a bit. Also, bring as many Sulphurous Saltsas you can, asthey cure Daze, which is a prominent issue with this battle.

you may also have someone withPatra, the spell that cures status effects;and that’s certainly the more economical move. But unlesseveryonehas Patra, you should still have Sulphurous Salts, because you never know who, precisely, is going to need to administer the cure.

There is a lot of leeway for the party setup with this one. Essentially, ensure you have someone capable of healing and then two good Physical damage dealers. In terms of Archetypes and Formation, we recommend the following:

Magic Seeker

Front or Back

In this fight, the protagonist will alternate between using theHorse-Drawn Carriagesynthesis skill, doling out Sulphurous SaltsorPatra,

Perfect Punch is used against Homo Jaluzo in Metaphor: ReFantazio.

Warrior

Front

Strohl will besupporting other party memberswith their respective synthesis skills, usingPerfect Punchwhen at full HP,doling out

Magic Knight

Hulkenberg’s aims will be the usage of theLeap Thrustsynthesis skill to lower Homo Jaluzo’s Defense while dealing damage. Otherwise,

Thief

Tarundacastings over and over again until Homo Jaluzo’s attack is minimized.Repeated castingson the turn that the arrows are blinking.

Lowers entire party’s Defense.

Focused Aim

Ensures complete accuracy for the following attack. Increases its power as well.

Battle Strategy

When the fight begins, have Heismay immediately cast Tarunda. This will begin the most important process:lowering Homo Jaluzo’s Attack power. Heismay will need to do thiswith his following two turnsas well, at which point, Jaluzo’s power is minimized.

Strohl can useBattle Cryto charge his Attack and Defense while the protagonist uses theHorse-Drawn Carriagesynthesis skill to get an early thwack in. Another viable repeated skill for this fight isLeap Thrust, which will lower the enemy’s Defense.

You’ll note that we’re speaking in terms that suggest these characters have unique skills. This is, of course, not the case! You can use a different party setup with the same group of skills, but we’re referencing our own personal Archetype distribution.

Homo Jaluzo’s big thing isStare, whichit will use as a follow-up to most attacks. Stare doesn’t deal damage; rather, itinflicts Daze, which reduces the likelihood of the afflicted character’s attacks connecting, and prevents the use of synthesis skillsoutright.

We don’t want to risk missing with attacks, since that’ll lose us additional turn actions; nor do we want to get screwed out of using synthesis skills. Therefore, apply Sulphurous Salts or Patra whenever someone’s hit with Stare.

Yes, that means you’re often doing this, but it’s worth keeping ahead of the problem. Especially sinceour continued usage of Tarunda means this battle will largely be trivialized, and it’s a matter of time before your victory.

Keep tabs on thearrows beneath the “ATK” header when you’re targeting Homo Jaluzo. When thethree arrows (signifying the fully minimized attack) are blinking, it means that the debuff ends next turn.Cast again, andthe full three-stage reduction will be maintained.

A few turns into the fight, Gallica will suggesttargeting the eyesto lower Homo Jaluzo’s peerless accuracy.Don’t bother, as it’ll only prolong matters.Horse-Drawn Carriage, Perfect Punch, Leaping Thrust, evenPhantom Tracerwhen you have it - keep aiming at the body.

When it’s low on HP, Homo Jaluzo’s dear, sweet, mother willheal it completely.(She’ll also heal the eyes completely, hence, we’re not going to bother with them.) Just maintain the above strategy, and Homo Jaluzo will hardly be an ordeal.
