Lord Jabu Jabu is back inThe Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. Fans will recognise the aquatic deity from Ocarina of Time when you enter his belly to rescue the Zora Princess.

Now he’s returned, but unfortunately a little under the weather thanks to the Still World making imposters of creatures great and small. So we have no choice but to fight back, and it can be quite a tough and confusing encounter at first glance.

Lord Jabu Jabu Fight Overview

You must defeat Jabu Jabu before gaining access to the Jabul Waters Temple, as he guards the entrance that is also shrouded by an ominous rift. Upon entering the boss room, Kushara and Dradd will try to appease their god and beg him to stop acting so strangely. They decide to play a tune together to calm his nerves before Zelda offers to take him on herself.

She will jump into the water and quickly be sealed inside by an invisible barrier with no way for Dradd and Kushara to help her.Now you’re trapped, the real fight begins.

This is the first boss battle in Echoes of Wisdom that takes place entirely in the water, so movement and the way you normally use echoes to fight enemies and solve puzzles is restricted.

How To Defeat Jabu Jabu

The first thing Jabu Jabu will do once the cutscene concludes is unleash a giant jet of water containing fish enemies, wooden boats, and lily pads.He will then disappear before coming out of the left side of the arenato begin his first wave of attacks.

While Jabu Jabu is prepping his first assault, swim to one of the boats, beds, or crates now suspended in the water and hop aboard. Many of your normal echoes will be useless in the current situation because any creature that isn’t aquatic will immediately drown, while other echoes like Chompfin won’t be a part of your arsenal until later on.

So, it’s up to Zelda and herSwordfighter formto do most of the heavy lifting. Butmake sure you are constantly circling around Jabu Jabu’s open mouth, as it can do massive damage in a very short space of time. Manage your power and slash away at Jabu Jabu’s head until he disappears back into the rift.

A handful of smaller enemies will loiter around the arena as the battle progresses, and Jabu Jabu has a habit of summoning reinforcements if you wipe them out. My advice is to ignore them entirely and focus on the big bad.

Jabu Jabu will then return from the rift back in the centre of the arena, except this time he will perform an attack that will suck Zelda and all surrounding things into his mouth. Fail to pull yourself away in time, and you’ll be trapped for several seconds, sothe key here is to immediately summon a Bombfish echo and ensure it goes right into his mouth.

Once it explodes, Jabu Jabu will lie in a stunned state whereyou can inflict damage for as long as he stays down. Be warned though, once this state is over, hewill once again fill the arena with new enemies and platformsfor you to jump onto.

One basic enemy during this fight that is very wise to avoid are the jellyfish, which can stun Zelda into submission. They make the battle so much harder, but thankfully Jabu Jabu won’t hesitate to gobble them up if they get too close.

Jabu Jabu will grow increasingly frantic as he takes more damage, moving faster and more erratically in order to save his skin. But the routine of the boss battle remains identical. Just keep on throwing bombfish and slicing away at him with Zelda’s sword, and you’ll eventually emerge victorious.

Rewards For Defeating Jabu Jabu

After reuniting with Dradd and Kushara, you will nowgain access to the Jabul Water Templewhere even more puzzles and battles await. Unfortunately, because this fight is merely a precursor to the main dungeon, there aren’t any rewards to be had.
