Dragon Ball: Sparking Zerofeatures many challenging fights in the Episode Battle section of the game, where you have to pick a character and play their story. How you deal with these fights may change the progression route, and you may unlock alternate story paths. However, in some cases, the alternate path results in the end of the story.

If you’re playing the main story route, you will encounter Jiren as the final boss of Goku’s Character Episode. You will have to defeat Jiren to progress further, and doing so is easier said than done.

How To Begin The Fight Against Jiren

You’ll be able to fight against Jirenat the end of the Tournament of Powerin the Universe Survival Arc. The road to this fight is challenging as you’ll have to face plenty of tough opponents during the tournament.

Fortunately, you will play as Ultra Instinct Goku, which makes the fight a lot more fun. Despite that, Jiren is still a threat that shouldn’t be taken lightly. There aren’t many alternate paths that you may take here, and it is recommended that youstick to the main story routefor the coolest ending and to unlock Jiren’s Character Episode.

How To Defeat Jiren

Jiren is a tremendous powerhouse, but so are you in the Ultra Instinct form. The battle starts with you in theincomplete Ultra Instinctform of Goku, and you’ll notice that Jiren is also holding back his true strength.

As the battle progresses, Goku willmaster the Autonomous Ultra Instinct, making you even more of a challenge for base Jiren. The battle strategy is pretty straightforward as you have tocreate distance and charge your Kito shift to the Sparking Mode. Once you’re in Sparking Mode, you have to approach Jiren and initiate a melee combo.

It is recommended to cut your combos short by pressing the Ki Blast button in the middle of a Rush Combo as Jiren can sometimes free himself from the combo, making it difficult for you to approach him again and deal significant damage before your Sparking Mode runs out.

AsJiren is knocked away, you can throw out your Ultimate Blastand then begin charging your Ki once again. Keep repeating this process until you’ve depleted the opponent’s entire health bar. After that, Jiren willunlock his true potential and start fighting you seriously.

The overall strategy remains the same. However, sometimes Jiren might not give you a chance to begin a Rush Combo at all. In that scenario, you have touse Super Perception or High-Speed Evasion to counter his attackand knock him away.

If you’re unable to charge your Ki and shift to Sparking Mode, use Super Perception to knock him away and then charge your Ki, or use your Ultimate Blast right away to deal considerable damage to him if you’re already in Sparking Mode.

If Jiren isn’t giving you time to charge your Ki at all, you should attempt to look for a small opening and use Goku’s No Backing Down skill, which will consume three Skill Points, but will immediately shift you to Sparking Mode, while also giving you plenty of buffs, such as damage and defense boost.

Make sure you’re a significant distance away from Jiren while he’s in Sparking Mode. HisUltimate Blast can not be blocked and covers a large AOE, so it is best to get as far away from him as possible and wait for his Sparking Mode to run out.

If you manage todefeat Jiren quickly, you will unlock an alternate endingwhere Goku wins the Tournament of Power by himself, and you might not get the exquisite rewards locked behind the main ending.
