Gate of Lost Ages takes you on another strange journey inDragon Age: The Veilguard,this time to a mining area where you’ll encounter another champion taking a nap in their Blight Cyst. The “Gate” quests each require you to locate and defeat a champion, claiming their Champion Essence from their remains.
Champions are difficult enemies that can easily defeat you if you’re not careful, so employing strategy is of the utmost importance. Whether it’s knowing which attacks to dodge (and when) or using the right skills that will inflict heavy damage, here’s how to defeat Quyn the Sparkwielder during Gate of Lost Ages.
How To Defeat Quyn The Sparkwielder
The Gate Of Lost Ages tasks you with defeating a champion in theDock Town’s Lost Company Minearea.
Here,across from the Fen’Harel Altar,you’ll find another champion residing in aBlight Cyst.
When you’re ready, destroy the Blight Cyst and releaseQuyn the Sparkwielder, a level 20enemy with theFrenzy, Necrotic Imbued, and Electric Imbued,qualities that make this foe powerful.
Quyn is weak againstFirebut resistsNecroticdamage.
Overwhelm and inflictburningon Quyn to easilyeliminate its shield.
Stacking conditions like bleeding and burning are excellent tools for chipping away at enemy health, especially against lower-level foes.
Be careful to avoidQuyn’s jump attack, which deals area-of-effect (AoE) damagewithin the red outline painted on the floor before the jump. Dodge and counterattack so you don’t endure too much damage.
Partway through the battle,Quyn will summon reinforcementsto help in the form of a horde ofDrowned Miners,which can overwhelm you with their sheer numbers.
Thin out the miners (weak againstNecrotic, resistCold) as soon as you can to return your attention to Quyn.
Continue peppering Quyn with attacks, stacking theburning effect as much as possible to inflict chunks of damageon this Fire-weak foe.
If Quyn is weak,feel free to finish off the beast, asDrowned Guardscan be tanky with their shields and can unnecessarily prolong the fight.
Continue attacking and dodging in rhythm, and Quyn will go down after enough Fire-based attacks.

Once you defeat this champion, you’ll receive the following rewards:
Take the Champion Essence to the roots in the Converged City and you will complete the Gate of Lost Ages quest.
