After defeating Dark Link and progressing through Stilted Suthorn Forest inThe Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, you will eventually come face to face with the Seismic Talus. Like a lot of classic boss fights, he has several phases, plenty of surprising attacks, and packs one hell of a punch.
This rock-based beastie is the game’s first major challenge, and a decent test of everything you learned about summoning echoes and navigating the environment thus far. You’ll need to attack from a variety of different positions, juggle echoes, and make use of Swordfighter form to bring this fella down.
Seismic Talus Fight Overview
Seismic Talus is an absolute unit, and takes up almost half of the combat arena Zelda has to move around in. This meanssticking to the edges and avoiding his regular spinning attack is critical. Talus also has a punch that will send his fist flying from his body toward you, which is a lot easier to avoid. He’ll make a habit of slamming his hands down flat during each phase.
While there are only a few pots surrounding the combat arena this time around, don’t be afraid to break them for a quick burst of extra health.
Like Dark Link before him, spinning around the Talus using the ‘R’ button is a great strategy to avoid a swift death, while summoned echoes will once again draw aggro away from you if done in a timely fashion. Talus can destroy most echoes in seconds though, so to ensure that a constant stream of summons is brought forth.
How To Defeat Seismic Talus
This battle wastes no time getting into the thick of things, so stay on your toes and begin by strafing around the arena and avoiding the Talus’ barrage of punching attacks. To make sure Zelda isn’t drawing too much attention, summon a Darknut on the opposite side of the arena to attack the Talus’ glowing purple weak pointat the end of his combo chain.
After a couple of hits, the Talus will vanish back into his purple orb and be vulnerable for a few precious seconds. Now transform into Zelda’s Swordfighter form and start swinging. If enough damage is done or time has passed, the Talus will appear for his next phase.
The second phase is nearly identical to the first, so all you need to do is continue avoiding any damaging hits and make sure your summoned echo is dealing some major damage. If things go well, take on the Swordfighter form, dole out some more punishment, and you will almost be home free.
Reliable echoes for this fight are either fast-moving, aggressive creatures or those with either melee or ranged weapons. Anything that can reach and damage the weak points.
You’ll know the final stretch is upon you when theTalus starts glowing red, with his orb now planted squarely in his cobblestone noggin. His spin attack is especially deadly this time, so avoid it by sticking to the walls and waiting for him to slam his hands down onto the ground.
It’s easier to activate Swordfighter form right away this time. If you have the energy saved up, then you may free the purple orb and deal a final blow to seal the deal. Congrats, Talus is no more.
Rewards For Defeating Seismic Talus
As the fight comes to an end,a full Piece of Heart will appear and Tri will receive a full level-up, allowing them to now summon an extra echo.
