Mount Lanayru Temple inThe Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdomis a doozy. Not only will you need to go up against the deadlygreen goo monsterwhile traversing the place, you’ll also end up face-to-face with Skorchill before all is said and done.

This boss is actually an imposter who is being brainwashed by a strange, Still World-infused helmet that changes between different elemental properties. It’s a tough battle, and Zelda will need to adopt a multitude of new strategies to tackle Skorchill’s changing moveset.

Tri and Zelda realise that Skorchill is Conde’s brother in Echoes of Wisdom.

Skorchill Fight Overview

Skorchill is actually the brainwashed big brother of Conde,an abominable snowman who grew up in the surrounding mountains. He will help you shelter from a brutal storm, and is instrumental in granting Zelda access to the temple and ensuring she is able to survive a harsh climate like this. But he’s been alone for a long, long time.

Skorchill has a variety of attacksin both hisfireandice forms. While wearing his ice helmet, he will unleash a spin attack that freezes anything on contact, stamp on the ground before several icicles drop from the ceiling, andslam his fists down on the floor to reveal his weak point.

Zelda and Tri speak with Conde on the peak of Mount Lanayru.

The fist slamming attack returns in his fire form, as does a spitting fireball attack, and a huge whirlwind of flame that spreads throughout the entire area.During his final phase, Skorchill is wearing a helmet featuring both fire and ice properties, allowing all his skills to combine.

How To Defeat Skorchill

Skorchill will waste no time getting down to business. The battle will start with him in his ice form, with the floor beneath Zelda also covered in the stuff, making for slippy movement no matter where you stand. Fortunately, this can make dodging attacks much easier.

Equip theFire Wizzrobeecho right away and summon it a decent distance away from the boss, asyou will need to land three successful hits on the helmet to destroy the three ice hornsand make Skorchill vulnerable to direct damage.

He will alternate attacks randomly during this first phase, swapping between his icicle stomp, fist slamming, and spin attacks.

Echoes will drop thick and fast during this battle, so make sure to keep moving and summon new Wizzrobes to combat Skorchill’s constant barrage of attacks.

After all three of the elemental spikes are destroyed,Skorchill will return to his normal form and be open to attacks. Use this as an opportunity to switch toZelda’s swordfighter form to keep wailing at the bossuntil his helmet breaks in two. But don’t worry, he’ll replace it in a few seconds with one that now sports a trio of sick fire horns.

Ice on the ground will clear away with the heat, and you will once again need to use the opposite element to wipe out all three of the helmet’s horns.

The Freezard echo is a slow yet reliable way to achieve this, as it will do an excellent job of dispatching the horns whenever Skorchill performs his fast slamming attack.Be wary of the spinning fireball attack, however, as it will spread throughout the entire boss room and can be hard to avoid.

Once the helmet is broken a second time, take on Zelda’s swordfighter form and deal all the damage you can until it breaks in two. Finally, you will be up against a third phase when both elements are in use. The ground is frozen and there is a fire everywhere — a killer combo.

There are a few extra attacks to avoid in this phase —including a deadly fire tornado— but the method of defeating Skorchill remains the same.

You’ll notice the helmet’s horns are made of ice, sosummon a Fire Wizzrobe to take care of themand then lay down the final few strikes.
