The Jabul Waters Rift (or Zora Temple, as most people are going to end up calling it) is one of many dungeons inThe Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, and as expected, ends with a pesky boss you’ll need to use all of your newly learned skills to vanquish.

So along comes Vocavor, a giant, snail-esque sea creature that looks gorgeous, but sadly is packing a nasty bite that Zelda will need to deal with. So let’s dive into the water to dispatch this carnivorous crustacean.

Vocavor Fight Overview

Your final stop at the end of the Zora Temple is Vocavor. You will need to have solved all the related puzzles and obtain the Big Key in order to gain access to its sanctuary, which is located down a very deep hole behind the aforementioned door. Hop on down, and you’ll be treated with a cutscene introducing the creature.

Come into this battle with a healthy amount of healing and power restoring smoothies so you aren’t stuck between a whirlpool and a hard place.

It is the same enemy that summoned a series of whirlwinds to chase after Zelda in another part of the dungeon, a move that also plays a significant role in the encounter to come. But it’s not a hugely challenging affair, and so long as youkeep on moving across the water and hopping between portions of floating liquid, you’ll be able to make it out on top.

How To Defeat Vocavor

Zelda will begin the fight on the right of Vocavor, who will quickly swim the opposite way and begin spouting out his first round of whirlpools. These adopt an up, down, up, down, up, down patternwhich is easy to predict, so keep on swimming between them until the boss suddenly lets his body go limp in exhaustion. Now is your chance to strike.

Summon Zelda’s Swordfighter form andstart slicing away at the bulbous blue sacks on his back. Inflict enough damage and the two sections will soon disappear, leaving behind a few hearts for you to pick up and restore health with.

Vocavor drains water from the boss arena as Zelda watches in Echoes of Wisdom.

If you aren’t fast enough,Vocavor will swim away before letting out a piercing shriek as they send a flurry of purple projectiles your way.

To avoid these, quickly swim beneath one of the two platforms on either side of the arena. They will explode eventually, but so long as you’ve closed enough distance, you’re safe. Vocavor will now head back to his original position and start to release yet another series of whirlpools.

If you’re a fast enough swimmer or happen to have the [accessory name] equipped, you may circle back around to Vocavor and take out his second set of blue back pieces before he repeats the phase.

Vocavor’s first phase will repeat until you have destroyed his weak pointsentirely for the first time, after which he’ll let out a difficult to avoid spin attack. If you have enough health reserves and healing items, it is possible to tank his next few attacks and follow him across the room and slice away at his back before he’s able to retaliate. Then things will begin to get a little more interesting.

His next phase begins as he evaporates specific sections of water from the arena, meaning Zelda will now be walking on dry land and unable to reach Vocavor in certain areas. This will make things a little more complicated, but with the right moves, it’s easy to overcome.

Oxygen bubbles can be found across the arena, so make sure to visit them occasionally so you don’t run out of breath and drown.

Equip the Water Block echo and use that to make a path between the segmented bodies of liquid and Vocavor, which if done right, will allow you to jump directly onto his back and slice away at his weak point. You could build platforms out of random objects or get airborne echo to deal damage, but there is too high a chance of them getting destroyed in the chaos.

When Vocavor starts unleashing a series of whirlwinds, remain inside the pillars of water and keep on swimming up and down to avoid them. Eventually, he will unleash a much larger one before tiring himself out. Now is your chance to jump out of the water and begin slicing away from below.

If you run out of charge for Swordfighter form with no means to replenish it during the fight, the Boomerang Boarblin and Spear Moblin can get the job done instead.

Once enough time has passed, Vocavor will swim back over to the other side and repeat this pattern.Much like before, avoid the whirlpools and wait until he gets tired before you attack. Keep this up and Vocavor will eventually kick the bucket and the trapped Echoes will be free.

Rewards For Defeating Vocavor

As is the tradition with major dungeon bosses in Zelda games,a full piece of heart will be earned, which will increase your total number of hearts by one and restore all your health. Tri levels up too and can now summon one additional echo.
