You’ve battled Nyx, you battled your sister, and you battled your way to the mid-point of the Malebolge section of the Abyss of Time inPersona 3 Reload: Episode Aigis -The Answer-and now, it’s time to square off against your first DLC boss Shadow, too.

Wrathful Book brings a Shouting Tiara support Shadows to the fight, capable of bouncing plenty of magic attacks back at you. You’ll need to choose your teammates carefully from the limited selection at the start of Persona 3 Reload: Episode Aigis, since you’ve got a relatively challenging boss fight before your next save point.

Wrathful Book Boss Battle Overview

Since the battle against Wrathful Book happens onB8 of Malebolge, the very first section in the Desert of Doors, you’re limited on who you can bring into the fight with you, since several teammates are missing before this fight. In the end, we chose:

Not only do you have a Wrathful Book to worry about, but it begins the fight withtwo Shouting Tiara Shadowsflanking it, just to add some extra shake-up to your combat. Since Akihiko deals only physical damage (that doesn’t do extra damage) and Electric damage (that both Shadows drain in this fight), we left him in the lobby with Fuuka here. Ken isn’t much better offensively, but at least he’s not outright helping the enemy.

Attacks and Skills

Mazio

Light Electric damage to all foes.

Be sure to keep from using a Persona as Aigis that’s weak to electric -her affinities are the sameas whichever Persona she currently has active. If she’s using something weak to Electric magic, she’ll take extra damage from these skills.

How To Beat Wrathful Book

Perhaps to exemplify how well the sisters work together, you’ll find thatAigis and Metis make a great one-two punchin this fight just using their default abilities. Since Orpheus, now Aigis' Persona, hasAgiby default and Metis will knowBufulabefore long, it’s a good idea torely on the sisters to take out all three enemies.

You will eventually have other teammates whospecialize in these kinds of magic, but with them indisposed at the beginning of the game, you’ll need to work together with Metis if you hope to strike weaknesses if you haven’t found a Persona yet that has Ice magic that Aigis can use on her own. Even then, it’s always best to split the SP drain between characters so you can keep trooping on after the fight concludes.

You’ll need to beware ofTetrakarn and Makarakarn, though, which Wrathful Book casts on both itself and the support shadows. These two spellsput up barriers that repel your next attack, whether physical or magical, and this can deal a staggering amount of damage to your teammates if you’re not careful!

The best way to handle Wrathful Book casting either Tetrakarn or Makarakarn during the battle in Malebolge is tobreak the wall using a Persona immune to that type of damage. For instance, if Makarakarn is active, you can have Yukari cast Garu on that Shadow, since she’s immune to Wind damage and won’t be hurt when the attack bounces back. This opens that Shadow up for attack from a teammate using magic to which that Shadow is actually weak.

You’ll also need to be mindful toheal enraged teammates using Patra, since plenty of the physical damage you’ll do to these Shadows is negligible. Unless Tetrakarn is active, they’ll take normal damage from physical attacks, but if you’re able to sharpshoot their weaknesses with these teammates, it’s best not to waste time dealing minimal damage instead, since the fight can drag if you’re only dealing chip damage.

You’ll need to clear each enemy from the field to end the battle, so home in on their elemental weaknesses with Aigis and Metis, and you’ll make quick work of the battle against Wrathful Book in Persona 3 Reload: Episode Aigis!
