After you rescue Nix during the Partners quest inStar Wars Outlaws, you’ll enter a boss fight of sorts, and will be forced to work with the bounty hunter Vail to defeat Jabba’s Rancor and escape the palace.
Unlike other fights, you won’t be able to just blast your way out, as the Rancor is immune to your blaster shots. Instead, you have to use items in your environment to trick the Rancor. If you’ve been in this fight for a while, and you’re struggling to figure out what you need to do, this guide has all the information you need.
How To Bait The Rancor To Hit The Door
You’ll learn quickly that yourblaster is no good against the Rancor. And Kay even makes a mention of it towards the beginning of the fight.
What you need to do isbait the Rancor to ram into the large chamber doors. To do that, you need to get him angry so that he charges, like a mad bull.
On the ceilingabove you are two moving rails that carry large fuel canisters. Wait till one of the fuel canisters is near the Rancor, then shoot it.The canister will explode and anger the Rancor.
You have a few seconds while he recovers from the hit torun towards the doors and wait for him to lunge. You’ll know he’s about to charge by thewhite angry-face icon above him, with a red meter filling up around it. Once the red circle is complete, he’ll charge.
When he gets close to the door,dive out of the way, and you’ll get a cut scene where he hits the doors, denting them slightly.
After the cut scene, the Rancor will start chasing you again,but three Hutt guards will show up as well. Kill them quickly with your blaster so you can focus on the Rancor.
Soon, the canisters above will start moving again, sorepeat what you did before,and the doors will budge a little more.
Where Is The Lever In The Rancor Chamber?
After the second hit on the chamber doors, therail carrying the fuel pods will jam and stop moving. Vail tells you to restart the systemby pulling a lever.
The lever in question ison the opposite side of the room from where Vail is. Use Nix’s sense to highlight it, then send Nix to flip the lever.
The Rancor will keep chasing you as you look for the lever, sobe mindful of where he isso you may roll out of the way and not get hit.
Once Nix flips the lever, thefuel pods above will start moving again. One more time, blow one of them up with your blaster near the Rancor, wait by the doors for the Rancor to charge, then move out of the way.
The Rancor will hit the doors one final time, which will knock him out andcreate an opening between the doorsfor you and Vail to squeeze out.
