With the launch ofFactorio’s first expansion, Space Age, the game was also updated to 2.0, bringing fixes, new features, and more to the base game. If you’re just returning to your factory with the update, you may notice blinking red indicators all over the map, warning you that your pipes are overextended.

The 2.0 update changed the way fluids are transported through pipes, making it so you can no longer have an infinitely long stretch of pipes. Below, we’ll take a look at how to fix this issue and get your fluids flowing once again.

How To Fix Overextended Pipes

The 2.0 update changed how pipelines work. In the old system, a fluid would flow down a pipeline, becoming less saturated the longer it traveled through the pipe. In the updated system, a fluid will propagate the entirety of the pipe section, filling the entire section equally. The trade-off, however, is that pipe segments can be amaximum of 320 tiles long.

Segments longer than 320 tiles will become overextended, and fluid will no longer flow through them. Luckily, you may fix this issue byinstalling a pump every 320 tiles. As long as the pump is connected to electricity, it will pump the fluid from one pipeline segment to the next.

You can craft a pump using one steel plate, one engine unit, and one pipe.

you may check the length of a pipeline segment byhovering over any pipein the segment. the’Pipeline extend' number out of 320indicates how many pipes are in the segment.
