Once you’ve started playingDisney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, you’ll get introduced to the enemies called Blotlings quite early. These are the main enemy types that you’ll be fighting on your journey and they can be defeated using various methods. Though the basic method is to use your paint or thinner on them.
However, as you progress in the game, you’ll unlock a new mechanic called the Guardians. If used correctly, these little beings will greatly help you during your playthrough, especially when you’re fighting a huge group of enemies.
How To Get Guardians
Guardians will be introduced fairly early in the game when you’re trying tounlock a door to the Gremlin Village using the catapult in the area. As you climb the path to activate the switches in this area, Gus will introduce them, though you won’t start getting them instantly. You have to progress to the area where the Ticket Booth quest unlocks first.
As soon as you reach this area, one blue Guardian will get attracted to Mickey and you’ll finally be able to start stacking them up. Once this cutscene ends, you’ll see a new HUD on thetop left of your screen with three dots and two bars below your HP hearts. This is where you should look as you try to find more Guardians.
The dots represent the amount of Guardians you currently havewhile the bars represent the progress to getting the next one.
You’ll have one bar representing your thinner and paint progress each. When none of the bars are progressed, you’ll start getting progress on them based on what you use. If you use thinner to remove the paint from an object, the green bar will go up, andthe blue one goes up if you paint an outlined object.
However, if you paint an object when your green bar already has progress, it’llfirst have to lose the green bar completely to progress the blue and vice versa. Once you get either of the bars to fill up, you’ll get an extra Guardian stacking up to three times. Moreover, all your Guardians will switch to the type of bar you fill.
Even when you have all three Guardians, you canswitch their type by filling the other bar up.
How To Use Guardians
Once you’ve acquired a Guardian, it’ll start rotating around Mickey. Whenever you face an enemy, you can launch these Guardiansat them by pressing or holding the correct button, which will be differentbased on the platform you’re playingon. Pressing the button only launches one Guardian while holding launches them all.
Each Guardian you launch willautomatically target the nearest enemyand have different effects based on its type:
Once a Guardian is launched, they’ll get consumedand you’ll have to build the bars up again to get more.
