Deadlockis a game that focuses on hero abilities and map objectives. Ideally, you’re tasked with eliminating the enemy Patron and anyone who comes in your way. Usually, when players are going about these objectives, souls are automatically collected without them even realizing it.
But it’s always better to be mindful of where and how you can collect the most souls, as it helps you improve your hero’s abilities and stats by buying relevant items from the Curiosity Shop. Furthermore, sometimes it’s better to save souls for late-game items rather than spending them early on in the game.
Deadlock is in alpha, so everything in this guide is subject to change in the future.
How To Farm Souls?
Souls are Deadlock’s primary economy and serve asa means for you to buy itemsthroughout the game’s progression. When doing so, you’re making sure that your hero is well-equipped and has all the active/passive items they need to max out their damage output, vitality, and abilities.
Theeasiest wayto farm souls is byeliminating enemy minions. You find them in every lane, and all you need to do ismake sure you get the “final hit.”
you’re able to wait for your companions to damage them enough until the minions' vitality is at a minimum or deal all that damage yourself. However, you need to verify you get that final hit.
Now, here’s the most important bit -Soul Orbs. You’ll only get half the souls when you eliminate a minionunless you also shoot Soul Orbscoming out of them.
Those are little green blobs floating away like souls leaving their bodies. This mechanic makes collecting souls a bit more fun, even though it takes some practice to get used to.
Once theten-minute markhas passed, minions don’t provide soulsupon getting the final hit. That’s when you will need tofocus on getting Soul Orbsmore often.
Additionally, you canreap higher rewards by eliminating mini-bosseson the map that guard each lane and enemy territory. Some of these are pretty tough to eliminate and will need the team’s collective effort. Treat them like an enemy hero, and use all your might when planning your attack. Also, keep an eye out for opponents who defend their lane.

As you earn souls through the different stages of the game, what you invest in will increasingly matter. Early on, you can buy cheaper items (for 500 souls), but as you progress, you’ll spend more than 5,000 souls on items.
Read item descriptions carefully before making a purchase. You don’t want to end up regretting getting certain items, after all!
To get that final hit, sometimes it’sbest to melee an enemyrather than relying on your weapon’s ammo.
Using Map Objectives To Gain Souls
Other than farming souls from minions as you would usually do,there are many map objectivesyou can locate in hopes of gaining more souls. This is crucialif you wish to jungleand earn resources.
In addition to souls, these objectives also grant you rewards that can help you and your friends progress through the game more effectively.

Even though it’s possible to earn these rewards all by yourself, it’s recommended that youcommunicate your goals(through voice or text chat) before going in. You can also let your team know about your activities by simply clicking on the mini-map. Since rewards are individually earned, there’s no question of players unfairly dividing souls earned.
Communicating about your farming intentions can help allies stay aware. They may even accompany you and make the task feel easier.
Lastly, even though earning souls is a fundamental part of Deadlock, money isn’t the most important thing in the world. Well, at least not in Deadlock. As you practice and build your playstyle over time, your favorite heroes will start earning more eliminations, andgaining souls will eventually become a passive activity.
Farming as much as you can during the early stagesof the game may be a good call, as it lets you invest in useful items early on. Then, upgrading your character can help you fight mini-bosses and powerful enemy heroes, which in turn makes it easier to buy and earn important resources towards the late game.
