Natlan was released inGenshin Impact5.0 and holds many secrets, one of them being the Phlogiston Extraction Research Center. Phlogiston Extraction Research Center is an area where the Fatui have hundreds of Saurians hostage to conduct experiments on them to extract their powers. This area consists of many different puzzles and Fatui that must be brought to justice.
Completing the Phlogiston Extraction Research Center will reward players with an achievement called Righteous Resistance, a Luxurious chest, and a quest item called Shattered Night Jade.
There are no prerequisites that need to be done to unlock the area called Phlogiston Extraction Research Center, and travelers can head there after unlocking the Natlan map.
How To Find The Phlogiston Extraction Research Center
Phlogiston Extraction Research Center is located in theCoatepec Mountainsand is east of the Ancestral temple.
To find the entrance to the Phlogiston Extraction Research Center,teleport to the Blazing Ruins and follow the road south. As you go along the road, you will notice Fatui camps that go into asmall valley and then a cave.
Defeat the Fatui and move towards the cave.
As you go forward, you will start seeingSaurians trapped within cages. You can’t save them right now. You need to go inside the Phlogiston Extraction Research Center and foil the Fatui’s plans first!
Inside The Research Centre
You will encounter a lot of Fatui enemies, so be prepared to head inside with strong characters. As you move along, make sure toopen carts that have round doors.
After defeating the Fatui and freeing the Saurian inside the cart, the first hurdle you will face is that you will have tounlock a door by solving a puzzle.
To solve this puzzle,transform into the green Saurian,look at the lava on the floor tofind a round object (Relay Ball)that can be easily pulled in with the green Saurian’s ability, and use it to open the door.
Once the door is open, you will also be able to unlock a hidden waypoint.
Central Room
Upon unlocking the teleport waypoint and moving forward, you will arrive at a large area with a huge machine in the center.
Head towards the center and kill all the Fatui.
To proceed further, you must finish the puzzle on the huge machine in the center.
To solve this puzzle, you must findtwo Relay Ballsand place them in front of the large machine’s mechanism.
Hidden Precious Chest
There is aPrecious Cheston top of the large machine in the center. To make it to the top,head to its sidesand go up bymoving along with the pipes.
Be wary of the lava and your stamina bar!
How To Find The First Relay Ball
The first relay ball is located in thefar northerndirection of the teleport waypoint of Phlogiston Extraction Research Center.
Head inside the cave and defeat the enemies inside. To get the Relay Ball out of this cave, you must solve a small puzzle there.
To solve this puzzle, look towards thesmall piece of landto find aSaurian that is digging through the ground, catch it to make it come to the ground and spawn agrappling hook.
Take the grappling hook andinstall it on the cratenear the Relay Ball, transform into a green Saurian andmove the crate towards the entrance of the gate.
Now you can easily take the Relay Ball, because the gate will be blocked from fully closing because of the crate.
How To Find The Second Relay Ball
As soon as you install the first Relay Ball, the entrance to the second cave will be opened, and two Fatui will spawn and come to attack you. Defeat the Fatui and head inside the cave.
Getting the second Relay Ball is pretty straightforward. Transform into a green Saurian and useCoilgrass Sigils to move towards the Cagethat is suspended.
Be careful not to fall in the water while collecting the Relay Ball, as the Saurian could die.
You can’t go backalong the way you came from after getting the Relay Ball. To head back to the central room, look towards the platform that has aladder under it(near the cage that had the second Relay Ball).
Hop onto the platform and go straight tofind a gatethat can be opened with the Relay Ball. Open the gate and head towards the Phlogiston Extraction machine for the final part of this adventure.
How To Get The Righteous Resistance Achievement
Be prepared for a long fight! Once both Relay Balls are installed,turn the dial in the machine two timesto start a challenge.
You will be ambushed by the Fatui, and you must fend them off for 60 seconds. After fending off the Fatui for 60 seconds, a final group of Fatui Agents will attack you.
Defeat the Fatui Agents. All the Saurians that were trapped will be set free, and a Luxurious chest will spawn.Open the chest to get the Righteous Resistance Achievement.
Exit The Research Center
Your adventure is not done yet.Head towards the cave that had the second reality ball. Use thekeyyou acquired from the Luxurious Chest toopen the cartin this cave.
Use the Saurian’s ability tomove through the waterto head outside the Phlogiston Extraction Research Center in style! In the end, you will be rewarded with an Exquisite Chest.
