As you expand your factory inFactorio, your production requirements will exponentially grow as you work to create more Science for researching new technologies. The need for rapid expansion can be somewhat solved by using Blueprints to build perfectly replicated copies of certain segments of your factory.
You can either create your own Blueprint by copying a segment of your factory, or use another player’s design. To use someone else’s Blueprints, you’ll need to first import them into your game; below, we’ll take a look at how to import and use another player’s Blueprints.
The method for importing Blueprints below isspecifically for the PC version of the game, as it isnot possible to import Blueprint strings on the Switch.
How To Import Blueprints
Blueprints, when exported, are stored in atext string. To import one, click theImport String buttonon the hotbar, then paste in the string of the desired Blueprint. This will place the copied Blueprint into your hand, which you may then either place into the world immediately, orstore in your inventory as a Blueprint Bookfor later use.
You can source Blueprints from other players through sites likeFactorio Prints, directly from other players, or even from your own save files.
How To Use Imported Blueprints
To use the Blueprint you imported,click on the Blueprint in your inventoryto select it. This will create aghost version of all components within the Blueprintthat you can then place in the world, giving a guideline for building machines, or more likely, asa guideline for robotsto build for you, as long as the necessary materials are stored somewhere within their logistic network.
If the Blueprint is stored within a Blueprint Book with other Blueprints, you canright-click on the Blueprint Book to open a list of all the Blueprints stored within, then select each individual Blueprint you want to use. you’re able to also useShift + Mouse wheel to scroll between active Blueprints.
