Even if you ignoreMetaphor: ReFantazio’s story of a young outcast who might be king, building up yourCourageis probably a good idea. After all, the protagonist and his friends will be going up against all manner of villains, so steeling yourself for the trials ahead is a savvy move, indeed.
More to the point, though, you need Courage in order to pass several skill checks if you’re hoping to maximize your bonds with Metaphor’s followers. This guide lists every Courage source in Metaphor to help you sidestep any potential obstacles toward that goal. Keep it handy, and you’ll be more than courageous enough for any task.
Courage-Building Tips
When it comes to Courage, we have two big tips. First, don’t focus on this as a primary goal as much as other Royal Virtues. It’s not because you need Courage less - that’s not the case. Rather, there are two excellent recurring Courage sources.
Every time you take on a bounty, you earn Courage. Case in point:‘The Goborn King’.As with all other bounties, you’ll get a nice boost to your Courage at the end of the quest. These pay off in more ways than one.
The other major source isthe coliseum in Brilehaven. Every time you spend a daily action here, you’ll earn Courage, so long as you don’t get a game over. Since you’ll want to do thisto earn great prizes, you’re bound to wind up hereat least nine times, anyway.
The coliseum’s open dayandnight!
We said we had two big tips, so here’s the other one:if you’re doing something other than the above, always focus on your most recently-unlocked settlement.
Royal Virtues in Metaphor: ReFantazio operate a bit weirdly. Basically, the later in the story you are when you reach one of the game’s five big hubs, the more Royal Virtue points you’ll earnwhenever you spend time engaging in a local activity.

That might not look much besides the bounties and the coliseum, and truth be told, it isn’t. But there’s a twist -a fair number of regular (non-bounty) side quests also earn you Courage.
Frankly, even with such a seemingly slim list above,Courage is probably the easiest Royal Virtue to max in Metaphor: ReFantazio.
