The originalSilent Hill 2was well-known for many things, and while its story or trauma and guilt may be the most memorable, the moment-to-moment gameplay had its standout sections as well. Much of this comes through in the puzzles, which require active thinking on the part of the player.
The SIlent Hill 2 Remake retains this wonderfully, and even has a puzzle that would be considered quite cruel by modern standard. This is the Trick-Or-Treat Quiz puzzle, which you only have one chance to get correct, and need to memorize some pretty key information to do. Here’s how to solve it.
What Is The Trick-Or-Treat Quiz Show?
When exploring the Otherworld version of Brookhaven Hospital, you will find yourselftraveling to the basementin search of rings after you have unlocked the Chained Box on the second floor. As soon as the elevator begins to descend, however, you will be greeted bya voice speaking from nowhere. This is the Trick-or-Treat Quiz Show.
The host, as if speaking to an audience on the radio, will introduce himself, andrattle off a series of question, three in total. Each question also has three answers, so play close attention.
These question and their answers will never be repeated, so pay close attention or record a video if you want so you’re able to refer back to it whenever you need.
The order of the questions is very important, so don’t get them mixed up. Here they are, in order:

Now where do you actually input these answers? That is back onthe first floor of the Otherworld Brookhaven Hospital, so it will have to wait until after you’ve acquired the Copper and Lead Rings first.
How Do You Find The Answers To The Quiz?
So you know the answers, that’s great! But how were you meant to find them in the first place? Part of what makes this puzzle so cruel is that, of the questions it asks,none of the answers are stated in notes that you pick up. You either need to intuit the answer, or remember it from an earlier piece of information.
For the first question, you are asked how many victims died in the plague that struck Silent Hill. This is mentioned once,on a plaque commemorating the event in Moonlight Grove.
The second question asks you about the only road that connects Sanders Street to Silent Hill Ranch. This is the only answer you can check on during the quiz. While James automatically takes out the map of the current area, you can check any map you want direct from your inventory.This answer can be found on the Map of South Vale.
For the final question, the name of Billy Locane’s sister, this is mentioned in a newspaper article about the murder.This newspaper is found in Eastern South Vale, inside a building.
So if you don’t remember or haven’t seen the other two answers, you’re just guessing at the answer. And as you’re about to see,you can’t brute force it either.
How To Open The Quiz Show Chest In The Pharmacy
When you first entered the Otherworld version of Brookhaven Hospital, you may have seen a rather ornate chest through a crack in the wall.This is in the pharmacy, which will now be open after having listened to the Trick-or-Treat quiz show.
Enter the room, but ensure tosave your game at the red save point at the opposite end of the hallwayin case you make a mistake. The other reason this puzzle is so cruel is becauseyou only have a single chance. While the damage James takes is minimal, a wrong answer will lock the chest permanently.
It isn’t an honorable solution, if that matters to you, but you canjust reload your save if you make a mistake. There’s no shame in that.
The chest has three rows on it, and three buttons on each row. you may only go a row at a time, proceeding to the second row after pressing a button on the first row, and so on. However,you also can’t go back on any button presseither. If you press the wrong button on the first row, you are automatically brought to the second row and cannot go back to change your answer.
Input the numbers in each row to match the solutions to each question.Two on the first row, three on the second row, and one on the final row. This will open the chest, revealing the relatively paltry reward oftwo boxes of Shotgun Shells and two Health Syringes. Take solace in the fact that at least you know what’s inside.
Fun fact. This isthe exact same reward as the original Silent Hill 2as well.
