You are a meta-human who awakens in a post-apocalyptic world inOnce Human. Stardust pollution has brought about the destruction of society and an invasion of Deviants. The survivors you meet around the region will be giving you quests that will take you to the different corners of the region.
When your journey brings you to Blackfell, you’ll find turmoil brewing among the survivors residing there. With the replacement of the previous mayor, people have been at odds with each other and you’ll be asked to help solve their issues. This culminates your main quest as a meta-human and may be your toughest battle yet.
How To Start The He Was Here Quest
To begin the He Was Here questline, you need tohead to Blackfell. This is located in thenorthern section of Red Sands, which is rightabove the Iron Riverarea.
The Red Sands area is where Deviants of a higher level roam. It’s advisable that you enter this areaafter you hit level 40.
When you get to Blackfell, you’ll find two individuals fighting by the entrance. These two are Josh and Chris, and you’ll get in between their argument. After speaking with them,head inside.
Look for a man named"Old Bones" Dennis. He’s in ared building inside the settlement. When the dialogue options come up,select “Speak to Dennis Mobley”. He’ll tell you tosend a message to Trent, who is the current mayor of the settlement.
Next,head to Trent’s office. To get there,head up the stepsto the left of the restaurant. Once you get to the top, you’ll see some blue structures that have been turned into an office.Head inside to find Trent.
Inside, you’ll find Trent standing in the corner of some bookshelves. Interact with him andselect “Talk to Trent Palmieri”. While you’re discussing the current predicament of his people, Pauline will step in to offer some help.
Head back downstairs andgo into the restaurant to find Pauline. She’ll explain that the issues may be related to former mayor Ted Holt. She’ll thenmark a few locations on your mapfor you to investigate.
How To Find Every Marked Location
The first location that Pauline marked isin the Blackfell Oil Fields. This iseast of the Blackfell settlement. The marked area is right beside a large warehouse.
There are Deviants in the area, so make sure toclear them outso that you can carry out your investigation safely.
When you get to the correct spot, a memory will play out.Listen to the whole conversationand the second marked location will appear when it’s done.
Your next destination is theBlackfell Fallen Zone. This is right outside the Blackfell settlement.
The marked spot isinside the Central Hospitalin the small town. This is a red-brick building sitting along the northern edge of the town.
Head inside to find the correct spot andlisten to the next memoryplay out.
While listening to the memory, several Deviants may come charging at you.Be prepared for a short battlewhile you’re waiting for the memory to end.
Given the close quarters, you may findan automatic weapon to be most effectivein fighting off the Deviants.
Once the memory is done, the final location will appear on your map. The next location is73 Source Extraction Point. This is a Rosetta facilitywest of Blackfell.
The marked location is right by the entrance of the facility wherethree Rosetta soldiers are standing guard. Let the memory play out fully, then you’ll be directed to where to proceed.
Go inside the facility and make a left.Go all the way up the long slopeahead of you. When you reach the top, you’ll find a small building on your right.
Go inside the building andmake your way down the staircase. You’ll find a large basement at the bottom where Rosetta soldiers are roaming.Defeat themto safely get to the next location.
The basement hasa Mystical Crate and a Weapon Crateinside its rooms. ensure to open them once the coast is clear.
When you’re ready,go inside the elevatorin the corner of the basement. Press the button andhead to B5.
How To Outrun The Deviants While Looking For Dennis
When you reach B5, you’ll transform into Ted. You’ll then be tasked tolook for your friend Dennis.
Move forward towards the quest marker. Along the way, you’ll seea frozen Deviant that you may’t shoot. When you move past it, it will start chasing you.
If you turn to look back at the Deviants chasing you, theyfreeze up for a few seconds. Make your escape during that window to avoid getting caught.
Head to the end of the hallwayuntil you reach a point blocked by some black mass.Shoot at it until it dissolves, allowing you to go through.
You’ll find yourself in a small room with a computer desk in the corner.Head towards the deskandgrab the Rosetta V1 Access Cardon top. You’ll then need to head back the opposite way.
Keep going forward whilemaking sure to look backbefore the Deviants chasing you get too close. There will bemore Deviants along the way, so you’ll have more trouble on your hands as you make your way through.
Along the way, you’ll need toopen a few doors. Make sure youhave enough distance between yourself and the Deviantsso that you don’t get caught while trying to get the doors open.
At the very end of the chase, you’ll finda spot marked in red. Stand on top to end the chase sequence andwatch the culmination play out.
When you’re done,leave 73 Source Extraction Point.
How To Avoid Getting Caught By The Deviants
If you’rehaving trouble outrunning the Deviantswhile looking for Dennis, there’s a very simple solution.Eat a Transformation Cookiein order to turn into an everyday object.
The Deviants will completely ignore youand you’re able to go through the entire sequence without a single pursuer on your tail.
You’ll turn back to your original formwhen you pick up the card and when you shoot the blocking black mass, so make sure tobring several Transformation Cookieswith you.

How To Finish The He Was Here Questline
After discovering what happened to Ted,activate the Rift Anchorslocated around Red Sands. You’ll then be able tofight the Forsaken Giantin theForsaken Monolith.
The fight against the Forsaken Giant can be challenging when done solo. Considerbuilding a party of fourand taking on this boss together.
After defeating the Forsaken Giant,head to Mitsuko’s spaceand speak with her. Then,head back to Blackfellto inform everyone about what happened.
