GivenDeadlock’scomplexity as a hero shooter, it can take time to learn everything in terms of movement and combat. This process is made simpler thanks to a hero like Wraith, who is an excellent duelist and flanker. Even if you don’t use all her abilities at once, she’s quite tough to counter, since her weapon is nothing short of impressive.
Her nature as a skirmisher gives you a couple of playstyles to choose from. you may target specific heroes to fight, or move around the map taking out enemies. You can even focus on disrupting an enemy’s lane push! The cards are stacked in your favor.
Deadlock is in alpha, so everything in this guide is subject to change in the future.
Wraith Overview
When you think of Wraith, think of being the ultimate duelist. Your role is essentially going to betaking out heroes whenever and however you can. This may sound like a challenging task, but given her kit and base damage output, it’s not a far-fetched dream. Something that helps her stand out is her talent for inflicting long-range damage, without having to use all her abilities when doing so.
Wraith deals 61 damage per second (DPS) with her weapon, and holds 52 ammo at a time. These stats help her dealdecent damage during the early stages of the game, where you don’t necessarily need to invest a lot in items that maximize her damage. Her vitality remains at 550 without any upgrades, which is decent enough to put up a fight, but not a lot to go against a team by yourself.
Keeping her abilities aside, Wraith’s weapon has a high fire rate that lets her clear groups of enemies faster, and also intimidate enemies during a one-on-one fight. Additionally, she’s one of the few heroes in that game, which makes itextremely simple for her to escape a fight. This makes her a great pick for those looking to master one-on-one combat in Deadlock and try new strategies when trying to execute an attack.
What Are Wraith’s Abilities?
Wraith’s abilities can often feel like a dual-edged sword. Compared to other heroes, her kit doesn’t provide as much utility for the team and mostly focuses onkeeping Wraith mobile and versatile. While an ability like Full Auto can help you clear out enemies faster, earning you soulsin the process, an ability like Project Mind can help you enter or exit a fight quickly.
Wraith’s Card Trick ability is a great way of clearing crowds. It alsohelps you farm souls quickercompared to using your default weapon. In addition to using this ability to clear out multiple enemies, it canact as reserve ammofor pushing lanesas and when you want to. Moreover, the cards chase after enemies like homing missiles, giving you a worry-free situation when it comes to aiming.
Description
Card Trick
As you deal weapon damage, you summon cards. Then, you can activate the ability to throw them as projectiles. They fly towards an enemy, dealing 80 damage.
You can teleportto any targeted location, within a 25-metre range.
Full Auto
For a short while, boost your fire rateby 20 percent. Nearby allies receive half of the buff in fire rate.
Telekinesis
Lift an enemy hero, stunning them for a few seconds. Once the enemy lands back on the ground, they receive 200 Telekinesis damage.
Project Mind is Wraith’s highlight ability, as ithelps her teleport to pretty much any locationas long as it’s within a certain radius. This adds a lot of mobility to her kit andmakes her extremely tough to chase after. If someone is going after an enemy Wraith, chances are they’ll tire out at some point and possibly give up.
It’s suggested that you put a lot of points in Full Auto, as it increases Wraith’s damage output by a significant amount. This ability ensures that she isfiring bullets faster, while also dealing as much damage as she can in a short duration. This is useful in almost all situations, regardless of who you’re fighting.
Telekinesis isn’t the most powerful ultimate ability in Deadlock, but it doesput you at an advantage in a one-on-one fight. You’ll likely see this ability at its best potential once it’s upgraded beyond a certain point. It’s best used when trying to counter an enemy’s attack.
Upgrading Telekinesis to its maximum allows you to cut down its cooldown by a third. It also increases its duration and turns it into an area of effect (AoE) ability.
Upgrades And Builds For Wraith
Since Wraith’s abilities and damage output make her an excellentduelist, it’s only natural to focus on a build that maximizes these talents for her. The majority of the items you should consider purchasing will helpadd pressure to the opposing lane. Ideally, Wraith should be able topush a lane with little assistanceandbe a reliable skirmisherfor the team.
Since Full Auto is an ability that can synergize well with Wraith’s overall gameplay, you’ll also want to purchase items that will give her an advantage when it comes tofiring and reloading as fast as you can. Running out of bullets and spending too much time on reloading can bring down Wraith’s potential.
Items
Early Game: Focus on pushing a lane and improving vitality.
Extra Charge, Mystic Burst, Ammo Scavenger, Extra Regen, Extra Health, Rapid Rounds and Monster Rounds.
Mid-Game: Focus on increasing damage output and decreasing reload time.
Bullet Lifesteal, Quicksilver Reload, Swift Striker, Enduring Speed, Mystic Vulnerability, Spirit Armor and Tesla Bullets.
Late Game: Focus on maximizing damage output and abilities.
Surge of Power, Rapid Recharge, Return Fire, Colossus, Improved Spirit Armor, Escalating Resilience, and Soul Shredder Bullets.
You’ll need tokeep an eye on Wraith’s health and shieldsat all times since she isn’t the strongest or tankiest hero in Deadlock. Keeping that in mind, early game items like Extra Health and Extra Regen help her stay alive during dicey situations. Additionally, Bullet Lifesteal also synergizes well with her attacks and helps her vitality. There are also certain situational items you can consider.
Quicksilver Reload and Intensifying Magazines are essential items once you’ve upgraded your Full Auto ability. This will maximize Wraith’s damage output.
What’s The Best Playstyle Strategy For Wraith?
Here’s the surprising bit: you can make the best of Wraith’s gameplaywithout spamming her abilities all the time. This will require you to practice default movement in Deadlock, a lot!Jumping, sliding, dodging(midair), andteleportationwork like a charm for Wraith, and that’s how you should be flanking or chasing down enemies.
Practice Wraith’s movement in Sandbox Mode before you try out her abilities.
Use Card Trick For Bringing Enemies Out Of Hiding
An impressive way to use Card Trick is to bring players out of hiding. Its splash damage is best used when you’re pushing a lane, and minions aren’t a problem anymore. Certain enemies will be hiding behind corners, and Card Trick can help youdamage them and lure them into a fight.
Use Project Mind For Getting In And Out Of Fights
Project Mind gives Wraith all the opportunity she may need toflank enemies when they least expect it. This issimilar to playing Mirage, but in the case of Wraith, your shorter cooldown timer can help you use this ability more often. Moreover, don’t be afraid of using this ability to get out of fights that aren’t working in your favor.
Use Full Auto For Pushing Lanes
While Wraith isn’t the best lane-pushing hero out there, her Full Auto ability can be highly useful when clearing a group of opponents. This is so becauseeveryone around you (including you) receives an increased fire rateonce this ability is activated, helping you push a lane better.
Use Telekinesis For Countering Attacks
Once you have a clear understanding of all the enemy heroes you’re going up against, usingTelekinesis can help you counter some major attacks. For instance, right when an enemy hero is about to use their ultimate ability to its best potential, lift them and stun them for a few seconds.
