Dragon Ball: Sparking Zerofeatures tons of ranged attacks and about every character can use them. But, being on the receiving end of these ranged attacks can be quite annoying if you don’t know how to deal with them.

Deflecting or reflecting ranged attacks, such as Ki blasts and beams, is one of the core combat mechanics of the game, and mastering it can make many fights a lot easier. Not only are these great defensive options, but they also make your character look incredibly cool while doing it, which makes spending time and effort on learning these options all the more worth it.

How To Deflect Beams

Beam attacks are special moves similar to Goku’s Kamehameha or Jiece’s Crusher Ball that have asmall animation attached to them. These movescan only be deflectedandnot reflectedtowards the opponent who used the special attack.

Ultimate Blasts that become accessible in Sparking Mode can not be deflected or reflected. But, you can still avoid those attacks by using High-Speed Evasion.

To deflect a beam attack, you will have tohold the Super Perception button, which can be B/Circle/Q depending on your controller, just as the attack is about to hit you. Doing so willdeflect the beam attack towards the side of your character.

Deflecting a beam attack uses one Skill Point, and using Super Perception also consumes Ki continuously. You’ll have to make sure you have both of these resources available before attempting to use this tech. Furthermore, successfully deflecting a beam attackgrants your character a temporary buff, which allows you to charge your Ki faster.

You can hold the Super Perception Button just as the beam attack’s animation begins to successfully deflect it. If you mess up the timing, you might get hit by the attack, so it is best to head to the training mode to get a grasp on the perfect timing.

How To Reflect Ki Blasts

Regular Ki Blasts, which can be used by pressing Y/Triangle/Right-Click on the mouse, can beeasily deflectedoravoided by dashing in any direction. However, to reflect these blasts back to the user, you have to perfectly time it and press RB/R1/E just as the Ki Blast is about to hit you.

You can also reflect Smash Ki Blasts by using the block button, but you have totime it perfectly to deflect it back to the user. If you’re in Sparking Mode, you will automatically deflect most Ki blasts thrown at you, even if you’re not pressing any buttons.
