InDragon Age: The Veilguard, you’ll experience snippets of Solas’s memory through certain story quests. The Labs Below is one of these quests that you’ll acquire early on, and it is also central to the Regrets of the Dread Wolf region quest, which reveals much about the ancient elves and Solas’s resistance against the Elven Pantheon.
The Labs Below find you escaping one of Ghilan’nain’s labs after witnessing her unsettling Blight experiments. While a bit on the shorter side, the quest features a tricky puzzle and enemies that persistently respawn unless dealt with correctly.
How To Start The Labs Below
Once you’ve wrapped upthe Singing Blade quest, you’ll have tostep through Solas’s Eluvian to reach the Crossroads. The Caretaker will ferry you to theConverged City via the spirit boat, and you’ll arrive in ahub-like area where you’ll fight several enemies. Clear them out, then take the firsteastern exit near the Gate of Deep Sorrows.
Follow the path until you reach amisty entryway. Crossing it willtrigger the Labs Below quest, and after sliding down the slope, you’llmeet Tarasahl, who’ll tell you tograb the key on your right to escape Ghilan’nain’s lab.
How To Solve The Statue Puzzle
Navigating the lab and making your escape is straightforward, but you’ll have toface Darkspawnsalong the way. These enemies willcontinuously emerge from Blight Cysts to swarm youuntil youdestroy the Cysts, somake them a priority first. At one point, you’ll reach an area with arotatable statue and four doors.
Thedirection the statue faces determines which door opens, butyour path forward lies through the north door. Unfortunately,a large Blight Cyst blocks your way out, which must beweakened by destroying linked Cysts.
Start bydestroying the Blight Cyst near the northern door. After that,rotate the statue east, unlock the room, anddestroy all Cysts inside, including one thathides a treasure chest.Rotate the statue south next, and enter the room totake out a Cyst on its ceiling.
A new Cyst will appear above the southern door, anddestroying it will finally weaken the large Blight Cyst. Don’t bother with the western door as it has nothing of importance, so skip it. With all the Blight Cyst veins eliminated,remove the last one blocking your way out.
How To Complete The Labs Below
Once you’ve made your way out of the lab, you’ll havetwo more encounters with Darkspawn enemiesbefore acutscene featuring Solas, Ghilan’nain, and a Blighted Tarasahl follows.
You’ll gettwo dialogue options, butwhat you pick doesn’t matter. Since this is Solas’s memory you’re in, theoutcome is already set in stoneand can’t be altered.
After the cutscene, you’llreturn to the presentand find yourself in front of alarge treasure chestand aWolf Statuette. Whilecollecting the statuette completes The Labs Below quest, this item is alsonecessary for making progress in the Regrets of the Dread Wolf questline.
