How The Gallows Puzzle Works
The way to solve this puzzle is simple, you need to match the two pieces of text, and then decide who the most innocent party is.Once you have figured out who the innocent person is, you match the Roman numeral engraved beside it to the noose with thesameRoman numeral.
If you get the puzzle wrong, you will be transported to an underground area where you will be attacked by a swarm of Bubble Head Nurses, Lying Figures, and Mannequins. There is, however, a few goodies lining the walls of this room. So, if you are down here anyway, grab the Handgun Ammo and the Health Drink. You do’t actually need to kill these monsters, you can just run past them.
For your grace I do not plead,
For theflamesI did set free,
Sisters shrieked and children cried,
I watched themburn, I heard them cry,
I felt a soothing warmth inside,
It felt so good, I cannot lie,
The wealth of others I did take,
The seventh statute I did break,
And yet my deeds I don’t regret,
The reason, if I have to say,
Was to survive another day,
To them, it was a loaf of bread,
I took the child, you are quite right,
Carried her off into the night,
She did not scream, she did not bawl,
Forgive me, child, for I have failed,
To save you from her wretched ways,
She whom I loved, who gave you life,
Once the sun has ceased its reign,
I cut through the rusty chain,
Pushed the door and snuck within,
I departed with great haste,
Leaving not a single trace,
Ever faithful to my creed,
Mommy dearest, mommy sweet,
Your love for me was so deep,
“Why, oh, why?”, you shouted out,
You were, oh, so kind to me,
Filled my heart with joy and glee,
In the end, it was for naught,
“Why, oh, why”, you ask. Why not?
I waited long, I bid my time,
I waited to commit my crime,
The man appeared, he saw me not,
In truth,I did not hesitate,
Asmy bladesealed the poor man’s fate,
He knew the rules, they are quite clear,
Go against me, your end is near.
The Innocent Party Conclusion
The prisoner tethered to Roman numeral II literally just stole a loaf of bread because they were hungry. That is the classic defense of how a criminal act can be justified. This is meme territory!Pull on the noose associated with numeral II.You’ll now be in the morgue and free to leave the Toluca Prison.
Under veil of nightfall, in the ink of dusk,
Screams of the innocent fill the night sky,
A contorted chill dances on his spine,
No sign of regret, not a tinge of guilt,
In twilight’s grasp, athiefemerges sly,
His nimble fingers, like whispers they glide,
In the goods of others, his needs doth reside.\
His avarice driving every cunningtheft,
Not a hunger’s pang, nor a desperate need,
A cruel twist of fate, an outcome unsought,
The kidnapper’stears his motives reveal,
His hands eager to touch to grab and to hold.
Beneath moonlit guise, a villain’s design,
With a selfish hand, with greed as his creed,
Gazing back at her, her own flesh and blood.
As the spark of life fromhereyes did flee,
An unfeeling sigh the man’s lips doth escape,
His violent intent cloakedin a veil of fate,
Desperation’s grip suffocates the air,
A victim turned assailant, a tragic decree,
On this night of Judgment, pain sets both men free.
It should be pretty clear that the instance where the guilty party didn’t have a criminal intent is prisoner III.So, pull the noose in front of the Roman numeral IIIand you will find yourself in the morgue with a convenient hole that will allow you to escape this awful place. Surely the next area will be much nicer. Spoiler: it isn’t.
