Dragon Ball: Sparking Zerogoes to great lengths to recreate the feeling of the beloved anime and manga that it’s based on, which includes staples like Dragon Balls, ki-charging, beam attacks, and, of course, transformations.
Ever since the Frieza Saga, transformations have been a key part of Dragon Ball, which means it’s also a big part of Sparking Zero. Unless you’ve played the lengthy (and somewhat annoying) tutorial, though, you might not know how to do it.
How To Transform
Before you learn about how to transform, the first thing you’re going to need is a fighter who can actually do it.Saiyans like Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, and the like can all turn into Super Saiyans, whilecharacters like Jiren, Cell, Frieza, and a whole lot more also have their own transformations. You’ll be able to tell who has what on the character select screen.
Now that you’ve got a character who can transform, it’s time to explain how it works. In the top-left corner of the screen you’ll see the Skill Count, which is how you perform certain abilities. If you’re playing as a character who can transform, there will also be a little blue circle with a number and arrow next to it, which tracks transformations.
When this meter appears and has a number next to it,you can hold Up on the D-Pad to bring up a wheel of transformations. Depending on the number shown (which goes up over time),you’ll be able to then press the corresponding button attached to a transformationto turn into that form.
Transformations don’t have to be done in a specific order. As long as you have enough points, you’re able to go straight to Super Saiyan 3 from Base Goku if you want to. You can also revert back to your base form whenever you like.
Transforming not only gives your character a boost in strength, but also gives some a few new special moves and an ultimate to mess around with. Some characters actually get quite different when transforming, so it’s worth messing around with.
How To Fuse With Other Fighters
Now that you know how to transform, it’s time to walk through the Fusion techniques. To begin with, you’re going to need to have two fighters on your team who can fuse together, such as Goku and Vegeta, Goten and Trunks, and Caulifla and Kale. With any two fuseable characters on your team, you’re going to want to keep an eye on that transformation meter again.
When the transformation meter has filled up a bit, hold Up on the D-Pad again to bring up the wheel. You’ll then need tocycle through to another wheel(L1 and R1 on PlayStation and LB and RB on Xbox) to where the Fusions are. Once the meter is filled up enough to allow Fusions, just press the button to activate it and become the fused character.
Fusions are like beefed-up transformations that unlock a whole new set of moves and combos while also boosting the health and power of the characters who fused. It can’t be undone in battle, though, so verify you want the two to stick together until the fight is over. It also takes more time than using transformations, so keep that in mind.
