Quick Links
Followers are, in effect,Metaphor: ReFantazio’s term for Persona’s social links and confidants. There are 14 in all; six are party members, one is your team’s tactical support member, and the other half are all close allies of the protagonist who lend their help on the sidelines.
Several followers aren’t mandatory, so you’ll have to seek them out in order to earn their friendship. A couple of them even require you to undertake side quests before they’ll join the cause. Most have great stories well worth spending the time to watch unfold. Here’s every follower in Metaphor: ReFantazio, each with links to their own dedicated guides!
Gallica
Gallicais the protagonist’s faerie friend. She’s with youfrom the very start of the game, and while she doesn’t actively participate in battle, she doesprovide tactical support by helping you to scan enemiesand more.
The Mage Archetype
Gallica provides theMage Archetype. The Mage lineage is Metaphor’s mostoffensive magic-focusedclass line, providing manyelemental spellsbuilt to nuke your foes right where it hurts.
You won’t get the Mage Archetype untilNord Mine, the second area in the story, as it’s only then that you unlock the ability to swap Archetypes. Still, this won’t take long!
Check outGallica’s Full Follower Guidehere.
Strohl
Strohlis the first playable character to team up with the protagonist. He joins duringMetaphor’s very first dungeon stage, at the Northern Border Fort. In other words, you won’t have to wait long at all for him to join the party.
The Warrior Archetype
Strohl comes with theWarrior Archetype. It’s essentially the antithesis of the Mage - it’s built tohit enemies with high-powered physical attacks.
You’ll gain access to the Warrior Archetype simultaneously with the Mage, atNord Mine. Until then, Strohl will be your only Warrior, but as you’ll soon see, it suits his stats just fine.

Hulkenberg
Hulkenbergrounds out your early-game Metaphor party when she joins youshortly before the first major dungeon, Regalith Grand Cathedral, in early June. You’ll only bea couple of hours into the storyat this point, so you’ll have a long, long time to get to know her.
The Knight Archetype
Hulkenberg’sKnight Archetypesuits her former profession and virtuous values to a tee. It’s the ultimate bulwark against the opposition, as she cantank hits for her allies, soaking up damage to keep “softer” Archetypes safe from harm.

Heismay
Heismay, like all members of his tribe, cuts a small frame. All the better for him to strike you from the shadows. This disgraced former knightjoins midway through Metaphor’s second arc.You meet himin late June and early July.
The Thief Archetype
Heismay is, by far,the game’s fastest character. His Agility stat is crafted with theThief Archetypein mind. Anexcellent Hit and Evasionis yours when you sign someone up to inherit the Thief.
To gain the Thief Archetype, you must initiate Heismay’s follower arc, which is available a few days after the Kriegante Castle arc wraps up. Until then, he’ll be your sole representative of it; but then, it’s hard to argue the fact that he’s the best-suited.

Junah
The songstress,Junah, is first introduced at the start of the national tournament following Regalith Grand Cathedral. ButJunah does not become a party member until after Skyrunner Charadrius in late July.
Junah’s Follower chain can’t be activated untilthe conclusion of the events at Brilehaven in late July.To unlock her as a Follower, complete her side quest that’s available shortly after your arrival at Virga Island
The Dancer Archetype
TheMasked Dancerspecializes inadding weaknesses to enemies, even those tough ones that lack one by default. Masked Dancers canequip masks from other Archetypes, and for Junah, with her high magic, equipping her with something like the Mage is recommended.

Eupha
Euphais the fifth party member to join the team. She does soat the end of the Dragon Temple dungeonduring theVirga Islandarc.
As with Eupha, you must complete a side quest to gain Eupha as a Follower. This one can first be intiiated by speaking with her in any townafter finishing the Virga Island storyline.
The Summoner Archetype
Eupha shares Junah’s magical acumen. She hasthe highest magic stat in the game, and herSummonerArchetype is developed with that in mind.
By locatingtalismansin dungeons and turning them in at Akademia, the Summoner Archetype gradually gains an increasing number of skills. Most of these involveoffensive elemental magics, but a couple are more healing-centric.

Basilio
The younger, yet taller, member of the Magnus brothers, the party meetsBasiliowhile en route to Martira. But he’s more of a rival than anything for some time thereafter, joining the party late in the game after the events at Altabury.
Unlock him as a Follower byspeaking with Basilio aboard the Gauntlet Runner any time thereafter. This will kickstart his quest line. Thereisa side quest involved, but it won’t pop up until toward the end of his ranks.
The Berserker Archetype
Berserkershave one mission and one mission only: toannihilate enemies with the game’s most powerful physical attacks. They can charge up those attacks ahead of time, and then unleash raw carnage on the following turn.
Although this clearly suits Basilio, with hishigh HP and Attack, it can also pair well with Strohl, or even the protagonist.

Neuras
Neurasis introduced a little bit after theRegalith Grand Cathedraldungeon, following thecommencement of the tournament. He’s a genius inventor with a customary odd side and the pilot of your Gauntlet Runner.
To unlock Neuras' Follower ranks, visit Komero Village, which can be accessed via the world map at any point after arriving in Martira. You’ll be tasked withcollecting relics, nearly all of which can be foundduring visits to optional dungeons.
The Gunner Archetype
Get Neuras as a Follower, and you’ll get theGunner Archetypealong with him. Thislong–ranged physical fighterwields bows like guns, while maintaining steady defense due to the necessity ofremaining in the back rowfor its attacks to work as intended.

Catherina
The party meetsCatherinaat theRegalith Grand Cathedral, the first major dungeon. She’s unlocked as a Follower automaticallyhere, although there’s a bit of a catch involved for the next few ranks.
For the second through fourth ranks, you must encounter her Gauntlet Runner while traveling on the map. You’ll know it’s hers because, well, it’s as pink as she is. After that, she can be chatted up at Altaburyonce you’ve arrived there.
The Brawler Archetype
If the Gunner fights from afar, no one gets up close and personal like theBrawler. This Archetype uses its fists, and it relies onHP-draining physical moves that inflict considerable damage.
It’s best-suited toStrohl or Basilio, or - as the all-rounder that he is - the protagonist.

Maria
YoungMariais Grius' daughter. She’s been taken in by Fabienne, the proprietor of the Hushed Honeybee Inn, which the party uses as their initial base.
Maria becomes a Follower automatically, like Catherina. And, like Catherina, Maria also has a bit of a twist:a few of her ranks can only be reached by bringing her the artwork drawn by Neurasdepicting various scenic spots you’ll naturally bump into on your travels.
The Healer Archetype
We probably don’t need to spell it out for you that theHealer Archetypeis Metaphor: ReFantazio’shealing-focusedlineage.Cure spells, buffs, and revival techniquesare the trademark signs of the Healer and its advanced versions.

Bardon
The steadfast guardsman,Bardon, serves the good people ofMartirawith all his heart. Bardon kickstarts our heroes’Martira arc, which leads to gaining Heismay as a party member, and concludes atKriegante Castle.
After Kriegante, return to Martira to initiate Bardon’s Follower ranks. Further into these ranks, there will be a rematch against a certain boss involved, but it’s smooth sailing until then.
The Commander Archetype
TheCommander Archetyperallies allies withplentiful buffs and other battle-savvy boosts. Don’t underestimate its usefulness; some RPGs don’t exactly offer much reason to use such a support class, butmany of Metaphor’s high-end fights are made easierwith it.

Alonzo
Although you can spot him a couple of times in Grand Trad,Alonzocan first be interacted with under his’Pompous Man’designation uponyour arrival at Martira.
There’s more to unlocking Alonzo as your Follower than there is in most other cases. First, you must have Rank 2 in Imagination, one of Metaphor’s five Kingly Virtues. Pass that skill check, and you’re given the’A Dagger, A Ring, And A Rake’side quest to complete.
The Faker Archetype
Although it haspaltry defense, theFakerexcels at debuffing enemies. We heartily recommendlearning these debuffs for at least one active party member, even if you don’t intend to keep a Faker build running regularly.
There areplentyof battles in Metaphor that can be intimidating without debuffs likeTarunda and Sukunda; a couple of castings of these, however, and those would-be nemeses are left all but toothless for a few turns.

Brigitta
Brigittais theowner of the Lycaon Magic Association, an igniter shop found inGrand Trad. When you first arrive in the capital city, the seller there will refuse to let you purchase their wares.
Although you will see Brigitta standing outside this shop at night within a couple of days of your arrival, you cannot begin the process of getting her as a Follower until after the king’s funeral.
At this point, you’ll needWisdom Rank 2. With that skill check passed, she offers you the’A Bullish Embargo’side quest. Complete this quest, and she’s now an ally! Of sorts, anyway.
The Merchant Archetype
TheMerchant Archetypeis an odd one. With it,you can learn skills that guarantee you more money from battles, an attack thatinvolvesspending money, and even a rather handyskill that increases the potency of items in combat.

More
There’s no one quite likeMore. We’ll use another Persona analogy for our final Metaphor Follower - he’s yourIgor. Or Elizabeth, or… you know what we mean.Akademia, More’s home, is not unlike the Velvet Room in the Persona games.
It’s fitting, then, thatyou get More as a Follower by default. This happenswithin the first hour of the game, so you won’t exactly be waiting long. Toraise your ranks with More, you mustfulfill Archetype study progress conditions.
The Seeker Archetype
The protagonist’s default lineage is that of theSeeker. Seeker classes wieldswords, and havea variety of Slash and Windattacks, as well assolid buffsandsome powerful synthesis skills.
