While exploring the alien planet inSatisfactory, you’ll come across hostile flora and fauna that will attempt to stop you from expanding your factory. One obstacle you’ll need to overcome to reach certain areas are clouds of poison that deal damage over time.

Luckily, there are methods to overcome this poison gas, like by using the Gas Mask. Below, we’ll take a look at how to unlock and craft the Gas Mask, and how to use it to avoid taking poison damage.

How To Unlock The Gas Mask

The Gas Mask is unlocked through theMycelia Research treein the MAM. This Research tree unlocks after discovering your first piece ofMycelia, harvested frommushroom-like plantsaround the map.

With the Mycelia tree unlocked, you’ll need to complete the first node, Mycelia, by spendingfive Mycelia, and the second nodeFabric, by spending25 Mycelia and 100 Biomass. Then, you can unlock the Gas Mask research node by spending the following materials.

Once you’ve done that, the recipe for the Gas Mask will be unlocked. Head over to theEquipment Workshop, and you can craft a Gas Mask using the following materials.

Due to the materials required for research and crafting of the Gas Mask, you’ll need to progress toat least Tier 3, and complete theBasic Steel ProductionMilestone to unlockSteel Pipes.

How To Use The Gas Mask

To use the Gas Mask, firstequip it to your head slot from your inventory. To protect you from gas, you’ll also need a stock ofGas Filters, which willautomatically be consumed from your inventoryin place of you taking poison damage.

Gas Filters are crafted usingtwo Fabric, four Coal, and two Iron Plateseach.

While in poison gas,one Gas Filter drains every 45 seconds, so you’ll definitely want to bring a lot of if you plan on staying in a poison cloud for a long time.
