Exploration is a big part ofSatisfactory’s early and middle game. As you expand your factory, you’ll need to search for new locations to gather ore from, or you’ll need to seek out powerful collectibles like Mercer Spheres, Somersloops, and Power Slugs.

As you progress through the game, you’ll unlock a variety of transportation options. One of the first you can get is the Tractor, a humble but reliable vehicle that is essential for exploration. Below, we’ll take a look at how to unlock, fuel, and automate the Tractor.

How To Unlock The Tractor

The Tractor is unlocked after completing theTier 3 Milestone Vehicular Transport. To unlock this MIlestone, you’ll first need to completePhase 1 of the Space Elevator, then provide the following materials to the HUB’s terminal.

Once you’ve delivered these materials, the Milestone will be completed, and the Tractor will be available to craft. Now, open the build menu, select Transport, then select the Tractor. To build one, you’ll need5 Modular Frames, 5 Rotors, and 10 Reinforced Iron Plates.

The Tractor parked at a Truck Station, unloading materials to a nearby factory.

How To Use The Tractor

Once you’ve built your Tractor, you’ll need to fuel it. The Tractor takesany kind of fuel, so you’re able to use whatever you have on hand likeBiomassorCoal. The top speed of the Tractor is69km/h, and the type of fuel provided only dictateshow quickly it burns, not how fast the Tractor goes.

The Tractor also comes with abuilt-in crafting bench and inventory, so you can craft items and store them directly from the Tractor. This is locatedat the back of the vehicle, and this is also where you put in the fuel.

Additionally, the Tractor’sdriving path can be automated. To do this, press Q to open the Record Menu, then start recording a path. To fully automate the path, the start and end points need to be the same.

Once you’re done recording the path, open the menu again and select stop recording. Now, turn on automated driving and your Tractor will drive in the loop you created foras long as it has fuel.

On its own, there’s no real reason to use the automated driving system. However, this is where theTruck Stationcomes in. At a Truck Station, you canautomatically load and unload resourcesfrom a vehicle that passes through. By creating an automated path through two different Truck Stations, you can transfer materials from one location to another without using Conveyor Belts.

The method for doing this isthe same as when creating an automated path, just be sure todrive through and briefly stop at the loading area of each Truck Station. Additionally, you’ll want to make sure to provide fuel at the stations so that the Tractor will stay fueled up while driving.
